If you're over 18, can you leave your home and go where ever you want LEGALLY? And by leaving i mean leaving for good.

Yes, you can. You can sign everything you need. It might be tough to get things like a loan or apartment without a parental cosign but if you have a good job they won't care.

You can do it legally if you're under 18 (which OBVIOUSLY you aren't) if you go through the emancipation process.

What makes you think that? You think every 18 year old knows their rights or something? and FYI, I'm an 18 year old junior in high school . Im thinking about moving into my friends house (problem at home is pretty nasty) this weekend. But i cant just disappear from my parents without a word? I have to sign shit?

No, if you're 18, you can just leave and there's nothing they can do to legally stop you.

Move out if you want. They can't do anything. But if they pay your car insurance, health insurance, and a bunch of other important things they may cut you off, all things to consider.

You are 18. You are considered an "adult" in the eyes of the law. You can walk out the door while giving your parents the finger and they can't do shit about it (as far as the law goes). But remember that it can be tougher out there then you think to make it on your own. But even tough times are better then being trapped in a house where the situation is really bad.
Best of luck to you in whatever you choose to do.

Yeah, I dont think I have any other choice but to leave. My friends dad is like my 2nd dad, I remember he even told me if shit hits the fan i could stay at his house. So I think thats what I'm gonna do. I'll figure things out.

Oh in case you guys were wondering what i did, i simply stopped practicing catholicism. i think its a joke. but my mom being an irish catholic she didnt take it too kindly. and of course drugs are part of it too, but she only knows i smoke weed. and she finds porn on my computer too and that was an even worse punishment than marijuana. ugh.

Get a job, a car, put some money in the bank, sell some weed, and get out.

Worked for me!
Just don't let the cops take your stash, puts a damper on the bank account when they steal $3000 of shit.

actualy in many states at 16 and 17 you can leave home, the only time it becomes an issue is when the minor is living in unsafe conditions, there is no emancipation process unless you are under 16. this does hold true for georgia and several other states, check the laws in yours, you may find is suprising.

Hm, should have figured different states had different laws about that. I know in Alaska if you're over 16 and have a job and a reason for wanting emancipation it's really not too hard (not suprising for the number 1 incest and sexual abuse by household state).
