OPEN CELL FOAM

I use various grades of open cell foam as bio-filtration media in aquarium under tank housed containers. Tank water is pumped into container, then drips through the open cell foam media, then exits out the bottom & is oxygenated (air stone) & cycled back into the tank.
The media houses all sorts of microbes that digest urine, ammonia & other nasties.
Every once in awhile, you pull the foam out, then wash/rinse it out in a sink. Then, reinstall - as good as new.
While doing so, a MYCO thought crossed my feeble mind.
I would wager, for those that do cakes in MONO & TIT type tubs.
That this type foam, might be useful.
I would think a layer of say 1 inch foam, about 6 inches high, all around the inner edges of an enclosed tub, would benefit Rh greatly.
Foam has larger surface area, is porous, wicks moisture & moisture evaporates out of the open cell structure - with ease.
I don't do cakes. But, it's a thought.

Great suggestion I will have to remember it, though I don't do cakes.
Do you have a source to get this, I did a quick google and got lost

That looks good; but for the average Caker, I would think that Perlite is more readily available, more easily used, and less expensive. KeepItSuperSimple

yeah but it is also about the extreme, finding out what you can get away with.
Why drive a Pinto when you can drive a Corvette

Think about it. Every town has FOAM stores, of some sort.
This stuff washes out easy as a cloth rag.
You can also carry it, like a rag.
It is not 10,000,000 pieces - like perlite.
It will absorb more water than perlite.
It stays together & is reusable.
Just a thought.
