for the Cubensis hunter in you...READ THIS
    #5328676 - 02/22/06 05:10 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I found a cubensis patch that's not very big and is patroled by horses. I found about 50 cubes there (yes I was sure they were cubensis I even did spore prints)..imagine my face expression while I was walking in a mini field finding all those delicious and so "nutritious" mushrooms he he . Anyways I was kind of stupid while picking and didn't have scissors with me and while trying to cut the mushrooms with my nails I accidentally pulled some out with the root. I kinda forgot to tap the mushy's to make some spores drop too.. :frown: Now I've noticed that I have been finding less mushrooms there...SO I did some SERIOUS  thinking lol and came up with a plan to make my patch into a cubie "infected" paradise. As I said before I did a spore print on all of them  and lucky me I still have those prints. I will now be cutting those prints up into little tiny pieces and with those little pieces making cubensis apple "seeds"..if you know what I mean and feeding them to the horses. If you have any suggestions to make this work better please post them. I'll keep you guys updated and tell you how it works out for me. Peace Mr.P

Oh my God.. You killed the patch and they will never grow there again!!

Naw man ..
Conditions change.. Weather Conditions change.. You really don't need to thump the caps to make spoors drop they will do fine without all that..

I think your mushroom patch may be laying low for a bit tell all the conditions line up again..

As for propagating the lands with spoor... You will be at it a long long time and may never see a change in the number of mushrooms you find...
So the best bet here is to find more than one hunting ground and select cut...
Good Luck!

Really? But I thought that's the only way that new patches form and stuff. Would'nt the shit from the horse the apple was fed turn into a patch this way? Why not?

it might turn into a patch in a few years...have you noticed when hunting that the cubes grow from very old piles of shit, never fresh ones. if there was cubes in your feild that that means there are spores all over the grass that the horses will eat. feeding them spores is probably pointless but if you made it part of there regualr diet then i bet your field would be rockin in about 3 years

I wouldn't count it too out. I mean if he starts now why couldn't it kick in in july-agust when the hunt is at it's best. Those "old piles" are old but not that damn old. It's not like mushrooms grown from spores are spores eaten by the horse years ahead of time.

just my .2cent

there is this kid whos dad owns a farm. his dad has lived on a farm and picked shrooms his whole life, and the kid picks them too. the kid told me that once you start a new cow field it takes 3 years before shrooms will grow. i questioned him on this and he said that him and his dad knew for a fact thats what it takes. the day he was talking to me he said they just built a new cow field and its gonna be a few years til it produces. another member on here who owns a cow farm said that all his cow areas have shrooms except for one, one that has only been there for 2 years. I dont think cubes grow from the spores being eaten by the cows. i think they grow by spores flying through the wind and landing on a pile of shit that hsa the propper nnutrients and stuff (probabyl an old one) i always figured this to be a logical explanation to why lots of cow pattys dont have shrooms, especially the fresh ones. i am going to trust the knowledge of the kid who i know that lives on a farm, becasue he is the first one to introduce me to wild cubensis hunting and him and his family have lived on a farm and picked shrooms for decades

wouldnt feeding a horse spores be pointless? I thought only cows have the digestive systems for this and even then it was only Panaeolus cyanescens spores that survive digestion.
