    #5328596 - 02/22/06 04:42 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

Hey guys is it good to mist the casing layer when the myc is poping thru it?i mist it every few days to keep it moist.....and when i mist it it looks like it makes the mycelium kinda fades away..but i know it isnt fadiong away...basically iam just asking if this can hurt the pinset or the myc?thanks help much appreciated!!

Oh btw i had this casing in the fruiting chamber for about 4-5 days now and the myc keep on growing thru allover it..the whole surface has mycel poping up allover it which i understand is great cause that will cause me a more even pinset but i was told to keep it near saturation cause it is important near these stages...pinnin is near so should i keep misting or not?thats all i wanna know sorry guys...

First read my pinning strategy and follow it you'll be glad ya did. When misting mist using a pumpup mister adjusted to almost a fog and mist lightly several time a day and by lightly I mean two or three swipes over it from a distance so only the finest mist hits the surface. Your myc will recover. Once the myc is popping out uniformly then stop misting, the casing should be "glistening" with moisture and make sure that RH is at least 95% or better this will keep the casings surface optimum for pin development during this critical time so no misting will be necessary until pins are set. INDIRECT misting is good.

BUMP UP your FAE.

Is it good to continue misting even once the mushrooms are growing? I've been doing it and it doesn't seem to be hurting anything, but wanted to make sure.

Yes no problem as long as you have good fresh air exchange.
