I must have farged mine up. I inoculated Monday and I got nothin'. I did it kind of half-assed as a test, but I guess I didn't get the ratio right. I eye-balled the measurements and used a couple of pieces of broken mirror instead of marbles. Tonight I am going to attempt a second jar and follow the directions precisely....I also found these tiny marbles that are used to put in the bottom of vases with flowers. They should work ok.

Shimen....what was the recipe you followed? Which tek, I mean.

It was just the regular old 96% H20 and 4% honey. PC'ed for 30 min. I let it cool on my counter for about 2 hours and then put in my incubator for the night to cool down the rest of the way. I put in my incubator so that the temp in the jar wouldn't drop below 80. Injected about a half CC of spores into it that morning.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think my crap ratio was about a tablespoon of Karo to something like a cup of water. It was a total eyeball thing. I'm gonna keep it in the incubator anyway.....just for giggles.

*note There are itty bitty bitty particles floating in the liquid...cannot tell if they are white or not...my gues is that they are leftover crap from the pieces of mirror I used.

Lesson learned.

I varied the karo/water ratio, and found little difference. From left to right, .75% , 1.5% , 3% , 6% , 24% . The 24% has slightly more growth than any other, but you can't see it in the photo. 1.5% was the slowest, but it's coming along now. The photo was a few days ago.

i did a test similar to that with the amount of spores injected into the solution of 3%

i also used lc.. to knock up lc.

the lc use'd went FAST! 2 days.. Wham! full.

the spores... 5cc. took a while but had the thickest growth.

NIIIICE!

yes it takes time for spores to germinate hence why LC is great...
you can eyeball it all you want. its definetly not an exact science. if your doing lc to lc then you could toss in a little h2o2 and do it in the dirtyest of enviroments and not have to worry about contams since teh h2o2 kills spores but not myc.
