Eyes and consciousness

An eye by its very nature, suggests consciousness. Think of the feeling you get when you look into an eye. You know something is looking back.
I'm not talking about something with a manufactured eye, like a manikin. This though is sparked by a few different experiences. One is an image from the Hubble telescope. The explosion of a neutron star, I think. An eye appears, crisp and clear, in the middle of the chaos. Another is P. Mexicana. There were lots of eyes.
Thoughts?

Yes, there is something looking back. It is definitely a form of life. Everything is life. But how conscious is it? Can it register and comprehend what its seeing?
"The explosion of a neutron star, I think. An eye appears, crisp and clear, in the middle of the chaos"
Id think this is a pattern. Nothing more but the physics of the explosion forming shapes we recognize.
However...on the other hand, how conscious are we? Do WE register and comprehend what we are seeing? Maybe there is something looking back..

You've hit upon a good point my friend. We as humans tend to judge the consciousness of other entities based on our own level of consciousness. Can't blame us, its all we have. But if something has much less consciousness than we do we say it has none. If something has much more, I think we would say the same thing.
The eye is made for one thing. To observe. How can anything observe if it is not aware?
Imagine seeing from the point of view of the eye in the explosion. It exists for the length of the explosion. Its life span is short. Its thoughts would be extremely fast compared to ours. The universe would stand still to an immense degree.
The life span of a sun on the other hand is immense. the universe would spin wildly and at great speeds to the mind of a sun.

Here is a picture of the eye in space I was talking about. It is a picture of the Hourglass Nebula.

That's pretty creepy.

I love staring at people. I'll look you straight in the eyes when I speak, most look away because it's overbearing for them for me to see their soul, their subconscious.
I walk with cat's eyes baby, flowing in motion in the transcedental reality 99% of the population are too ignorant to acknowledge.

given a bit of psychedelic, almost anything can have eyes, and a mannikin can use them very suggestively

Eyes are a symbol of your own internal reflections.

Not very on topic but have you ever mistaken manaquins for people?
Have you ever spoken to them? I remember one time I walked into a sporting goods store and some sign of a guy tripped me out and I may have murmered something to him before I realized what I was doing. I was fairly young.
And what about those mirror mazes, running into yourself and saying "whoa.... hey man look out! ........ oh wait, that's me! wtf!"
mirror mazes + psychedelics oh man...... has anyone tried? I want to go to a real trippy amusement park some time when crowds are light on some sort of psychedelic or pretty stoned.
But yes I suppose eyes denote consciousness..... I wonder why not so with ears? There's something much more intimate about the gaze.
-------------------- I am the MacDaddy of Heimlich County, I play it Straight Up Yo! ....I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow, to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human...... Om Namah Shivaya, I tell you What!

The ears represent a more subtle manner of perception. They all have their roles.
