Frozen semi-solid WBS

Hell, I soak wbs a week or 2 , every so often

How that happens is, I decide to PC a bunch of jars, or bags. Fill a couple buckets with WBS & water, for a 24/36 hr soak.
Sh*t happens & plans change.
Since it COLD in the winter ~ where I live. I set the buckets of soaking WBS - outside.
THEY FREEZE, semi-solid.
Whenever I get around to them.
I move them inside, overnight.
Once thawed, rinse, drain, jar or bag up & PC as usual.
Oddly, the batches that get the freeze treatment, seem to colonize faster than those that don't.
No fantastic difference, but it is noticeable (at least to me).

It's likely that the freezing process bursts capillarilies within the seeds themselves, giving mycelium eaisier access to cellular structures. That'd be my thoughts anyway.

Thats what I was going to say (in a less articulate way!) I noticed if I soaked grains and microwaved them dry again they took up a larger volume even though they weighed less. Like sugar puff wheat or rice cripsies. My wheat colonised very quickly with large amounts of LC. I figured the LC soaked deep into the grains, and the grain was like a sponge soaking it up. Sort of like how they recommend you wash a towel before using it to increase its absorbancy.

Shower I never thought of that I going to have to try that..... its hard rising 30 pounds of wbs at one time in my kitchen sink

If you have a washing machine you can hook up a hose to it and rinse in a tub or something

Agar does not, neither do I. Some do..but they provide lignins and oils that are benificial in SMALL amounts. Some birdseed may have to much, I certainly would not remove many if any at all.
