WBS moisture problem

I recently picked up a 25KG sack of WBS seed for pretty cheap off a friend, this being the first time I've tried using WBS as a substrate. However, the contents of the seed is quite different to those widely available in the USA and documented in the guides. Instead of white/red millet - the seed I have contains Wheat seed, Whole barley seed, rolled field beans and crimped barley. The result of this being I'm having a lot of trouble getting the field capacity water content right. I've tried a 12h soak and a 30 min simmer and after the jars came out of the p.cooker - there was too much moisture sitting in the bottom of the jar. In comparison I've tried a 12 hour soak only, this produced overcooked, dry grain in the substrate jars. I'm quite lost as how to get this right, if it is at all possible - the grain seems quite usable.
Cheers.

Try simmering at a lower temperature and keep a constant eye on the grain, stirring constantly. I found this to help in getting regular WBS to capacity.
Go by the look of the grain when simmering, it should crack open pretty easy with your fingernails, and should look relatively wet. Try adding verm to the jars if you see standing water or really wet looking kernels on the bottom before pc'ing.

Yes verm is good...
what agar suggests... a 12-36 hr soak (24 is good)
then take your pot, and add heat to it till you get a slow simmer (few bubbles) and remove the pot from heat. and let the grains "steep" in this hot water for 2 hrs.
then strain, and rinse.
(my adaptation is to not let this drip dry for 30 min, and put it in a large bucket, and stir in dry verm so soak up moisture.)
jar up and pc.

Thanks for the quick responses, I'll try mixing in a bit of dry verm tomorrow when I have time and report back on the result.

i have found that "steeping" the grains helps out better... no more bursted kernels... not even 5%
