I need to figure out how to get the gasket on my pressure cooker to seal...I haven't used it in a couple weeks..Maybe a month or two. It leaks. There is no visible damage to it. Last time it did this, I used vaseline on it and it worked. It didn't this time. Are there any other tricks?

I didn't understand what you meant by the "V" shaped gasket.I am talking about a Presto PC. It has a gasket in the lid that fits onto the container. After it started steaming, I put the rocker on and then held down the lid tightly. Whenever I let go, it just started leaking.

How long did you hold it down? It takes awhile and if after a minute or two It still don't seal let it cool and put the cover on 180 degrees and try this again, it does work often. Just be carful when working around the PC when it's not working perfectly. Again GL Of course the gaskets in the lid I'm talking many times the inside edge of these gaskets have a "V" groove in them but that doesn't matter, give her a go and see what happens.

Ohh! Yes. It has the "V" on the inside of the gasket. I see. I cna't rotate my lid 180 degrees though. But I can rotate the gasket. Thanks. I'll try this.

Rotating the gasket won't do anything, sorry. Why can't you rotate the lid? Will the locks/tabs not line up then? squeese that baby it may take a couple of minutes or slightly more but when you let go of the lid that "V" should spread out once the pressure builds enough.

I pressed the hell out of it. My hands started hurting and air started leaking. I couldn't hold it down enough.

I'm gonna try a hardware store. I am sure I can get one cheaper.
