Mystery of the Weird Hippie Girl
    #5322750 - 02/21/06 01:33 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

First, a disclaimer that I don't really make posts like this often so it probobly comes out kind of stupid. Anyhow, something strange and confusing has popped into my world/social sphere. It's this crazy hippie girl who seems to be insanely intelligent and have some powerful psychedelic energy, but likewise interacts (or doesn't) with me in very odd and perplexing ways.

It started last fall when I saw her at a party. She was tripping on dramamine and had colorful patches of things like mushrooms and peace signs all over her pants. For some reason I just thought 'This girl has a vibe. I would do drugs with her' I talked to her for a little bit and she seemed cool.
I didn't see her for a long time but it turns out that she works at the place I got hired at the beginning of the year. I saw her working at the checkout one day and said "Hi, I remember you! you're the girl with patches and the dramamine!" and she was like 'huh?' And I said you were at this party..." but another customer was approaching so I cut the drug talk. She just looked at me with this weird "Who are you?" look. I then walked off, assuming that she just didn't remember me because she was on DRAMAMINE. I think a couple of other times I tried to make contact or something but she was aloof and impersonal.

So then on Friday my freinds and I went to a party. Two of my freinds were tripping pretty hard on acid and many people there were rolling on MDA. I ended up mildly stoned outside in the freezing cold with a group of people, and the hippie girl was there. She was just beginning her roll and started shooting of some pretty crazy insights. It kind of put me back a bit, because she was talking the same kind of shit that I do pathologicaly and then post on the Shroomery.;) I almost never encounter people exhuberant about the same kinds of ideas and things I am so I was kind of shocked. Shocked and verbally challenged by all the pot I could barely respond to what she said except in very terse and random ways. Nonetheless the conversation seemed to work pretty well. As we were going downstairs I told her "I really did understand everything you said out there."

This is where things start to get crazier. As we were downstairs dancing I see her just totally pick up on, and lock on to one of my freinds who was on the acid(whom she did not know very well). In hindsight I don't think this was romantic or sexual being that she was on e and his girlfreind was upstairs. As he was locked into somekind of like mathematical consciousness pattern unfolding to the music she start to do a bunch really complex flow/chi things to him, right in front of his face, staring at him in the eyes. They were locked together in like somekind of highspeed trancefueled psychedelic machine and remained doing this for at least an hour. At first I thought she was trying to feed off his trip, but it turned out the exact opposite had happened. Apparently whatever she was doing brought him to deeper realities he had never been before.

From what I understand she also guided my other freind's trip. Both had very positive and significant experiences. She and I were the two people who had been facilitating and guiding both trips which were happening in relative isolation. Yet neither of us ever did this in the presence of the other, and it seemed we had different ways. I realized she had some kind of amazing insight and psychedelic energy because she really had a powerful effect on my freinds.

But the next day when I see her at the checkout counter again and say hi she won't even look at me or talk to me. In a deliberate kind of way. Kind of confuses me and weirds me out. Now she is interwoven into the shared experiences of my freinds in one the most profound ways imaginable, but she won't in any way communicate with me.
It SEEMED like she thought I was really into her and reacted in the typical imature girl fashion: avoidance. However, that seemed pretty stupid for her, and as far as I know that didn't correspond to any messages I was sending out. She seemed not to be the type to act like that even if I had given provocation. My interest was that I was intrigued that she was insightful and shared alot of my views and experiences and she had such a strong interaction with my freinds in the psychedelic reality. I wanted to make some kind of contact because I feel we don't really often come in contact with other people that are in on the 'Mystery' and are thinking similar things that we do. But in the end I am frustrated by her weird behavior and I guess I'm just going to let it go. I don't understand her role, or what she means in my circle of freinds. She seems to be some kind of wild and confusing force of energy, and though something about the whole thing nags at me, I'm left scratching my head. I don't even know why all of this seems significant to me.

"2.4 How does diphenhydramine Hcl and dimenhydrinate work?

Antihistamines generally, and Diphenydramine Hcl specifically, act by antagonizing histamine at the site of the H1 histamine receptor. Antihistamines dry up the secretion of the nose, throat, and eyes. They relieve itch and will help you go to sleep.

Dimenhydrinate depresses the middle-ear function, but the way in which it actually prevents nausea, vomiting, or dizziness is not known.

However, these drugs are not just antihistamines. They have a significant amount of anticholinergic activity. What does this mean? There's a chemical in the nervous system called acetylcholine, which is one of a set of substances called neurotransmitters. These chemicals transmit signals from one neuron to another. Acetylcholine is present in many different parts of the brain. Notably, it's present in areas thought to be associated with memory, and is the primary transmitter of the motor pathways leading off from the spinal cord. It plays a role in just about every system, however.

Dramamine et al work to prevent acetylcholine from transmitting its signals.

The importance of acetycholine to memory may explain the amnesia people usually have for the events during a high-dose Dramamine trip. The heaviness that people often report is most likely a result of the blocking of signals to muscles: the brain has to send a much stronger signal to overcome the opposition produced by diphenhydramine, and this is interpreted as a sensation of greater effort by the brain."

i didnt know dramamine caused amnesia, Seems like Divided_Sky already implied that though.

Yeah, I know this, but she wasn't one dramamine the other night when all the crazy things happened.

BTW, isn't diphenydramamine Benadryl?

Well, she's either really shy and likes you, or she really dislikes you.

Sometimes people can be really outgoing in certain situations, but just can't be outgoing in crucial circumstances where they really want to be able to talk. Like when they're really into someone. It seems weird, but there are lots of people like that.

OR she finds you really irritating or repulsive and just wants absolutely nothing to do with you.

Let's not forget that a good dose of MDMA can be just as effective for creating amnesia as a few gunshots to the head. I once briefly forgot my own name on a high dose of X :crazy2:

People are completely different at work to how then are in real life... everyone's wearing a mask. Or perhaps she's just feeling embarrassed because of how she was acting/what she was saying to people on MDMA at the party, as a lot of people do in the aftermath. She sounds like a very rare and interesting person and if i found someone similar i'd be very persistant in trying to figure out what makes her tick. On saying that, you should also be prepared to accept that she may just be a fruitloop as most girls who initially appear cool tend to turn out this way.

Next time she's rolling, roll with her and see how that works out

You should print out a copy of that post, title and all, and stick it in an envelope and slip it in her coat pocket. Add a note on the back that says you were just interested in getting to know her because of the vibe she gives off, and that you weren't trying to hit on her.

Just an idea... hehe.

maybe she's hella paranoid and it isn't really that approrpriate to go up to people in public and indicate that they were on drugs.

that shit crosses me all kinds of bad ways even when i know the person who says something like that to me.

once my friend asked "got any pot?" while i was kind of on LSA at a show and i fucking avoided him the whole night thinking he was a narc.

i dunno man, if she's paranoid like me she probably did not like you mentioning dramamine to her at all.

otherwise i don't know what's up. or maybe she could think you're a narc if you weren't ever actually tripping at those parties just stoned..... and plus maybe you got the job to follow her to spy on her.

that's the sort of thing a paranoid person would think. doesn't seem like she'd be capable of giving a damn about those things if she were that OUT THERE though, but its what comes to my mind.

Yeah, if someone I didn't know really well started talking to me in public about my drug use, I'd probably be kinda pissed. People often want to maintain discretion about these things, as there are some people who don't understand drugs, and will cause you a lot of problems if they find out. So I don't let everyone know that I do drugs, and if someone thinks it's okay to just openly talk about the fact that I do drugs, I'd immediately suspect that they weren't concerned with avoiding looking like a criminal, and they probably won't be very safe/responsible.

You know the fear of being indiscrete about drug use did cross my mind. Then I realized she wears pants that have pictures of rainbow mushrooms on them and an patch that looks like the Hershey's logo except it says Hashish. She stands at her register doing flow and ravey things with her hands.

The thing that perplexes me a bit is that I don't think I really gave this girl any reason to dislike that much, and I probobly didn't give her any reason to like me enough to be shy like that either.

Could be paranoia, or memory lapse, I guess. I didn't say anything outright that would be construed as "drug talk". I don't think she did anything that one would normally be embarassed about either. :shrug:Some people are just strangely inconsistent. Maybe I remind her of somebody else. She could be a crazy bitch too.:strokebeard: Well, I don't want to read TOO much into the whole thing so we'll just see how things run their course.

the only time i ever saw a hippy girl in the past 2-3 years was at a las vegas airport (really sad i know :frown: very sad) she had deranged long red hair and a gentle spirit, i smiled at her and she smiled at me.... who had equally deranged hair from having not had access to proper hair care methods for 2 days (believe me my hair is fucked up even when properly groomed) and she was like "I like your hair" in this gentle voice.

:frown:

it was nice.

WHERE ARE YOU HIPPIES WHAT THE HELL MAN! There are long haired guys everywhere that seem like they are on the threshold of being hippies, but where are the chicks man? Wtf...

wtf indeed.

:frown:

Most chicks that ponder the atmosphere with you are 'spaced out'.

Next move: Ask if she wants to smoke DMT on lunch break.

I could be way off, but she sounds like a complete junkie and probably a slut/whore.

"and there's nothing wrong with the look that's in her eyes, i had to learn the hard way, just to let her pass by, let her pass by"
-scarlet begonias

i think that song is about THIS girl

I don't see the point in making excuses for her, i understand keeping work and personal things separate, but a little "hello" or even acknowledgment of knowing someone isn't going to be any sort of big deal at work.

it seems like she either has some personal issues, doesn't like you for reason, or all the drugs she's doing have really taken a toll and twisted her reality.

in either case, i don't think there's anything deep to this whole situation, just another personal relation that's taking a weird confusing toll.

that being said, i'd just give her a fat smile everytime i saw her working and hopefully she'll open up at some point and give you back a big ol' grin

edit: damnit didn't know this was bumped from 2 years ago...

The part that really boggles me about this thread is people speak of hippie girls as if they arent an everyday occurrence.

Perhaps I just hang out with too many hippies...I run into at least one half the time I leave the house.
