I'm sure he would. But, as I am ordering more syringes anyway, maybe he will replace it. I really don't think there's anything wrong with my substrate. It still smells fresh, and there is absolutely no contamination. I followed the pf tek exactly exept I couldn't find any wide mouth half pint jars, so I used 1 pint jars with the half pint recipe. There is space in the jars above the dry verm layer. This couldn't be the problem, could it? Anyway, My verm was finer grain so I added a small amount of extra water. the jars are only showing slight condensation on the lids and not the sides. Does that sound like good substrate to you? By the way, I appreciate all the help this site has given me.

Find out how old the spores used are. It can take up to thirty days for older spores to germinate, and another week before you can really see much. Are you sure that the spores were added after sterilization and not before? Did you wait for the substrate to cool down after sterilization before adding the spores? Remember, just because the jars are cool, the center of the substrate can still be very hot. My friend learned this one the hard way. Research, practice, and patience will get you where you want to go. Don't give up too soon, nature likes to do things at her own pace.

hey bluemeanie, I should have added that I used a lot of incolulate in my jars which colonized in a week... Im not sure if the spores were just really good or what, but the rhyzomorphic growth on them were just amazing...Looked more like roots than fluff! Probably used 1.5 - 2 cc's per 1/2 pint jar, which when I look back were a little bit of a waste but I needed to get them going fast at the time. Also 1st timer...if you were keeping your jars at 75 degrees, that could be a problem to why you aren't seeing any growth. Keeping them in the low to mid 80s are extremely helpful in the production of the mycelium.

I sure appreciate the input Seuss. I doubt my spores were very old as I ordered from a vendor that I've read many good things about(T.H.E.). As for sterilization, I used the pressure canner method. and waited two days. thanx again.

My B+ (spores via Hawk's Eye) cakes begin germination within 4 days of inoculation. I also use a solution of 80% water, 20% honey in my substrate and have had half pint jars colonized within 8 days. The B+ ive worked with have seemed to be a very eager strain as far as colonization goes. Like the others id suggest following the PF tech as closely as possible. You can purchase a burner from sporeworks and boil in that way.

why so much honey?? Most teks wouldnt suggest more than say 1ml of malt extract/honey per 100mls of water - but im glad it worked out for you anyway... Angryshroom - i usually use five point for multispore innoculation - where did you get those spores?? All the B+ ive tried have been hell slow, but some people say that they've found them fast. The best way for Arkendave to get his spores to germinate is to stop opening the jars to add more water and to smell them - your just inviting contamination. I once had spores that took 4 weeks to germinate and they were the Cambodian sporerace too (reputed to be a fast PC)
