I don't know how that myth originated, but it is definitely not true. Don't have an exact reference for you, although I have picked cubes from fields where different breeds were grazing.

they grow on cow poo, horse poo, elephant poo and many other type. I do know they Black angus cows are pretty docile and are more "chill" when hunting around them.

PSilocybe caerulipes grows in Virginia and most eastern coastal states from Florida alledgedly to Mass.

They are in Ontario, michigan and ohio and West Virginia, so why not Virginia.

As for Cubes, I doubt it.

I have found credible sources that say Psilocybe Semilanceata,Psilocybe Caerulipes have been found in virginia and why wouldnt pan. Subbalteatus or gymnopilus specs grow here, it gets really hot here in the summer(sometimes 90) and rains once in a while too.

This topic has already been covered several times. I wish someone would just save some forum space and just put VA in the FAQ sheet. I can't wait until it starts getting warm where I'm at.

Virginia should be on the list, but for some unknown reason it isn't.  Panaeolus subbalteatus is also known to be found in VA.  Northern VA for the most part, but always worth to just go hunting and see what you find where ever you are.

use the search feature of the site.  If you really want to dig the site for info, you have to make sure to adjust the date on every search.  When I look for hard to find stuff, I just set it at newer than 10 years.

The site has the date ranges default set at results newer than 1 month, which is half the reason why we get so many repetitive questions, imo.

Happy hunting!

*edit- here, consider it a freebie
