8 day soak WBS

So SOMETHING smelt like a morgue. I cleaned out the fridge, wiped it down with alcohol, threw out all my cheeses etc. The dang smell still wouldnt go away. 20 mins ago I found the culprit, some left over WBS that I put some more water in after I used most of it over a week ago. I guess it could be a 9 day soak if you consider the first 24 hrs.
Anyway, it smells like a cheap old folks home to the point I was gagging uncontrollably when I took the lid off. I have had a shirt tied around my face since. Strangely none of the grains sprouted, maybe because they were under 3 inches of water. I rinsed em real well and put em in a mix of peroxide and water a couple times. They still smell terrible ... buuuutt ... this might be the chance to get that milo water content just right! hehe
I'm hoping these will not stink the hell out of the kitchen when I cook em, I will keep everyone updated

nine day soak? I think that will completely screw up the water content - it will be way, way too much. For lack of a better word, they'll probably 'melt' in the PC since they're so soggy from nine days of absorbing water. Start over with fresh WBS -
24 hour soak (no more), simmer for about 30-45 minutes, fill jars 3/4 full and PC at 15 PCI for one hour and fifteen minutes. You can't go wrong with what you already know works

I donno guys, I've been rinsing it since i posted and it barely smells. The seeds aren't mushy, I think they kind of reach a saturation point
I'm just gonna bother doing a pint jar of it, I'll post a pic late tonight after pressure cooking
Question: Have you guys tried anything like this or read about it or is it all speculation? I don't wanna disrespect your knowledge through experience but if you haven't any material on this I'd like to try it out n share results

I have done the same thing with rye. Putrid smell, I almost puked numerous times getting into the trash and outside.
WBS is cheap, id throw it out and start over.

It will work fine. I've had a similar occurance as well. Just rinse off the seed well in a collander under the tap, drain well and use...

ya know, I'm not so sure about this idea anymore. The millet and milo seem fine but the wheat looking grains are almost like mush as suggested. They make up maybe 10%. I donno ... I wanna toss em but feel obligated to try it out

I'd start over and do the soak & simmer in my sig. You'll have everything done (including PC'ing) in less than 3 hours.

i think everyone should stop being such fascists(sp?) let the man experiment. Maybe this will lead to some new revolutionary tek or some shit like that. Don't discourage the exploration of the un-known. ...hey i kinda like that! im gonna add it to my sig...

Yeah, I share the rent here and the guy I share the space with was a little pissed off when he got a wiff of those grains. Ended up dumpin em cause I don't wanna compromise the nice understanding we have. With the gelatinous nature of the wheat like seeds it probably would have been real mushy. I do think though that if it was just strait millet and milo there shouldnt have been problems
I feel the same way NESpores, if we didn't experiment we'd still be waiting for BRF jars
