sterilizing casing mixture

I've read in the FAQ's that when you sterilize your casing mixture ( I dont have a PC) you can mix it up in the original bag, cut out the plastic seal and line the pot with a cloth and steam them in a pot for an alotted time.
I was wondering if anyone has done this and had an at least okay amount of success, and if anyone knows of a better way to sterilize casing mixtures, such as maybe in the oven like with say the oven or microwave ( although im lead to believe that migh tlead to very undesired odors)?

I pasteurized mine in the microwave. Did the 50-50+ (verm, peat, lime). It smelled like seriously wet dirty shoes throughout the house, but it was really simple. I am getting great results. Well worth it. 10 minute procedure, 45 mins to let the smell out. Allow casing to cool and be ready to see some major growth.

Just make sure you use tupperware and not jars with metal lids for microwaving and make sure you wet the casing first to avoid fires!

Don't have a PC? Do you have any extra jars? Here is what I've been doing for as long as I can remember. Mix a bunch of your preffered casing mix in a large bowl and saturate. Put this mix into your extra jars and sterilize as you would your substrate jars (or the microwave if you prefer). Now whenever you need casing mix, just open up a jars and scoop away with a clean spoon!
I sometimes spend an entire day dedicated to mixing up the various mixes and sterilizing them, one for Ps Cubs, and one type for Pan Cyans. They are kept in a cool place.
