A note to all casing newbies

I cased 24 trays over 2 weeks ago (First grow ever) following every procedure step by step in exact detail (or so i thought) with optimal conditions in all areas. Constant filtered FAE, prefect temp during incubation and fruiting, perfect humidity kept through automated coolmist + ultrasonic coolmist, etc, etc. But with these conditions i should have seen pins in 3-4 days, but nothing for 2 weeks!
Anyways I re-read all the information and realised i missed something very small, yet oh so very important. When i first cased my subsrtate to put back into incubation, i misted my casings, but i never misted them once i put them in the fruiting chamber. So i sprayed my casing yesterday and from one day to the next, bang! I have more pins now than i can count. So remember, even with optimal humidity and temps in fruiting chamber, if you dont mist those damn casing you will only get mycelium, no pins. Those pins sure do love the moisture! Lesson learned!

Wow perfect timing on this one. You might have just saved me from failure. I have 8 casings going now and I wasen't planning on misting but I will now. Thanks.
Btw, how much should I mist em and how often?

yea mist your casings just dont mist enough so you matt the casing layer down and make it harder for the myc to push through generally i spray 2 pumps worth (using a pump sprayer)then leave it till the next day and then give it 2 more pumps of water so you are gradually getting the right moisture content and not matting.

Dude, it takes three days or so to go from primordia to pins. Misting the casing layer and seeing pins the next day was 100% coincidental. RR

Well it really wasnt just 1 day. It was more like 2 1/2 since the first mist attempt.
