    #5314484 - 02/18/06 08:11 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

What is the Best Type of Malt extract? i bought some Pilsner malt extract it was cloudy as hell. is Briess a good brand and does the light come out clear i mean amber but not cloudy ? I'm hoping to come out with a clear LC with out debris so it is easy to see contams.

I have used Corn sugar(dextrose wich has given me a not cloudy LC )but Those Who seem to know suggest 1/2 malt extract 1/2 dextrose. is that the best ?

The malt solutions will never be as clear as corn syurp. You can run it through a coffee maker (or stir it around in a small pot of heated water), then strain the debris out. Longer PC times result in more sediment. I've PCed for 15 minutes with minimal debris, but the old hands recommend 20 minutes.
