10% of straw not colonized/it is dry(what to do?)

My friend spawned aload of straw in a sterlite plastic container. It is like 85-90% colonized, but the part thats not is pretty dry and it may not colonize. What should he do?

Mist it with h2o2 or cut it out. And proceed as normal

i wouldnt mist it with straight h202, maybe 50% h202 , 50% distilled water

a tiny bit of straw in several areas has little dots. they are dark grey. they are very small and have not enlarged, while the mycelium has spread all over. how bad is this? is it certain doom? anyone know? please, those who know straw.....advise.

anyone whos worked with straw please can you tell me if youve seen these little dopts befpre. can the straw be cased if its 90-95%colonized?

Sounds similar to spots I get on cardboard. I think that it's mildew. I would cut the straw that sticks out.
