not sure if anyone mentioned this, but another good thing about horse shit is it doesnt even barely smell at all, another plus for the indoor grower.

not sure if someone posted it, but horse works better because of the better food they get, vs the cow, that eats mainly grass....

The way I understand it, because a cow has 4 stomachs, when food passes through the first stomach, it sucks up as much of the food nutrients as it can, then the second stomach sucks more nutrients out of the food and so on until the end result (poo) has little nutrient content. Horses have one stomach though so you don't have to worry about that as much. Also, mixing up your horse poo with horse urine soaked hay I heard was good (courtesy of Dirty Jobs TV show on mushroom growing). Might want to check on the contamination factor of that first though.

Their is alot more to it than that.
Also, on that show they were making compost. Compost is different than just horse or cow shit.
Simple answer: specifically made mushroom compost is > plain horse manure. Plain horse manure is > than plain cow manure.

man there is a lot of contradicting info on this page , mostly from people who dont know.
"I always here that horse is better than cow, I believe it, but why?! don't Cubes naturally grow on cow not horse poo?"
BTW in north and south amarica there were not any horses or cows before europeans! cubs lived on buffalo, deer and its cousens, lama, rabbit, and prolly a few more i cant think of
"Also, mixing up your horse poo with horse urine soaked hay I heard was good (courtesy of Dirty Jobs TV show on mushroom growing). Might want to check on the contamination factor of that first though"
that is true for composting becase the bacera doing the compoosting need the nitrogen in the urine, urea to mycilla is toxic you want your substrae to be very low in raw nitrogen.
"Horse poo is better for 3 main reasons...
1. Looser structure - This enables the myc network to run faster. Enabling the grower to cut the vegatative growth time down drastically.
2. Higher precentage of beneficial bacteria - This causes for a lower chance of contams and faster colonization.
3. Higher presence of nitrogen - Nitrogen is essential in this hobby, and tends to have a great effect on potency, which is why your potency gains when you go from PF to bulk.
You could use cow poo and achieve the same results, but it would require far more work coming up with a good ratio of cow poo:straw and then some added nitrogen (maybe bloodmeal)"
please show me any proof at all the horse poop has more beneficial bacteria,, thats is just horse shit:)
what are you talking about nitrogen! add blood meal? thats is crazy and just plane fauls, yes mycila needs nitrogen but in the same way you need it, in the form of amino acids, nucleotide bases, and Proteins it needs this for lots of stuff and important one is Cell Walls got to have that if you want to grow , please people dont add nitrogen fertlizers to your substrate it will not help it any more than it would help you eat miracle grow.

Yeah, I was taught in school that the Spanish brought the first domesticated horses. Horses evolved in North America, however, and then migrated to Asia and Europe. Then the Clovis people came from Asia and ate them. Well, that's one theory. The other is that they disappeared with many other megafauna species (like camel and rhino) from North America through some not fully understood environmental changes, with climate being the primary suspect.
