Starting my log and grow tonight.....

My PC arrived today!!! WOOHOO!!! If someone will point me to the PC review thread, I will post a review of it a little later. I am also starting my grow log tonight to document my progress.
A couple of final questions:
Can I use only one hole for a 1 pt jar of BRF/pf substrate, or do I *need* to use 4?
Can I polyfill the holes before I PC? Covering with foil of course.
You guys are gonna get sick of me, I know.

Since you're doing PF tek, I advise you put at least 3 holes in the lid, because when you inocculate, you want the end of the needle to be up against the jar.
Also, there's no need for polyfil with PF jars, so long as you put an inch thick layer of pure verm over top the substrate.

As for the cooker I got...Here goes. Price paid: 37.00 shipped
It's called a Fagor Rapida, it's made in Spain. It's a simple model, not fancy. It came with no rack, but I knew that in advance and had something to use in my pots cupboard. It has no gauge either (not important to me.) It is a fixed pressure setting and the factory confirmed that it is 15lbs (well, they quoted it at just over 1 bar) There is also a built in secondary safety valve set to 2 bars (roughly 30lbs) It was advertised as 7qt, but it's actually 7 liter. Currently its holding 4 pint jars. Without a rack, I may be able to put in 6 pints with 2 laying on top. You could fit 4 quart jars easy with a rack. Roughly eyeing, you could hold a dozen 1/2 pints in it (stacked.) It has a lock built in to the handle that also serves as a quick-release mechanism for the steam (not recommended without silicone, heat-proof gloves.)
If you are waiting for the good points....here they are. This fugging thing is HEAVY DUTY. By heavy duty, I mean it's fugging heavy. Two handed heavy. It's almost twice as heavy as the ones I hefted a Wally-mart. The bottom is THICK as hell. It comes to a boil fast, and maintains a nice head of steam that is easy to control on my electric range. The kicker is this....the warrantee period is ten full years This includes all parts, and labor including the gasket! (like you would ever need labor on a pressure cooker, right?) All of the US popular cookers I check in to have a 5 year warrantee by comparison.
All in all, I am pleased. Trust me, I know there are bigger, better, badder cookers out there, but my ways and means dictated a certain size and price range.....and I had to have a new one....not used.
When I upgrade cookers (and I will in time), I plan to gift this one to a luck Shroomery noob (who will pay shipping only on this boat anchor) in need of a cooker. Give it a couple of months.
For the daring here....I tested the safety in real time. I started the cooker and got it up to pressure...then I duct taped the bobber closed and went to the basement to listen. About 5 minutes later, I heard the ssssssSSSSSHHHHHHHH and knew I had tripped the 2 bar safety.
That's my review, and I'm sticking to it

Holy cow, thank you for posting what PC you're using...I've been looking at a bunch of different ones lately, because this time around I made the mistake of buying a kit. Now I know what to look for! Thanks! By the way, you forgot to mention that most W-mart cookers only go up to 10psi...LAME. Nice find.
