Say I wanted to leave some shrooms still attatched to the mycelium,that are done developing (have torn away the veil completely) in order to allow the slower growing ones to catch up and harvest at the same time. Is this possible or will the fully grown shrooms just begin to rot?
letting them get mature just means you'll drop unwanted spores, which will prevent more flushes.. they're supposedly less potent when they're that mature as well (not sure if this is true? correct me if im wrong?)
You're fine giving them a day or two after the veil breaks. And the less potent thing is debatable. It's not that there will be less actives in the mushroom if you pick it 2 days later, as opposed to two days earlier, but rather that there's more weight, with approximately the same amount of actives, or so the theory goes. But I'm not sure if this has actually even been proven or if it's just speculation.
Bottom line, you're fine letting them mature a day or two past veil breakage.
