wtf?...p.cubes are not the only mushrooms that have purple spores...are they?

I don't think anyone here knows. But go check out the hunting forum like you first said. I actually think they've got links or something to some mushroom ID guides, in which spore print color is listed for each species.

here is a few of them...
Copelandia cyanescens = black
Panaeolus subbalteatus = jet black
Psilocybe antioquensis = chocolate to purple-brown
Psilocybe arcana = chocolate to purple-brown
Psilocybe azurescens = dark purplish black
Psilocybe baeocystis = purple gray
Psilocybe cyanescens = dark purplish brown
Psilocybe cyanofibrillosa = purplish brown.
Psilocybe mexicana = chocolate to purplish brown
Psilocybe pelliculosa = purplish brown
Psilocybe samuiensis = chocolate to purplish brown
Psilocybe semilanceata = dark purple brown
Psilocybe stuntzii = dark purplish grayish brown

So what you are suggesting, RK, is that purple spores is a trait only displayed by the Psilocybe genus?

I just listing the color of spores from some of the species that you might have been interested in.

dude, hows it going? there are so many mushrooms that drop purpl/brown spores. There's way to many to list. And plus, spore color can not be determined just by genus. true, most Russulas (for example) are white. But even Psilocybe has variations (my orissa india print is brown, but my Yin Yang is close to black). that sorta thing

purple spores are fun

my portbellos spored brownish purple, but more brownish. i believe that shitakes also have a purple hint. quite a few of edibles have dark spores.

Thanks for the info. I don't need ID help or anything  I just smoked a bowl and thought it was impossible that only psilocybes have purple spores...just wanted to make sure.
