White spots on rye and on horsepoo/straw (not mycelium) pics
    #5310492 - 02/17/06 01:37 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

Hi i done my first LC there a while ago and the B+ looked GREAT but the GT looked wierd but i inoculated one jar anyway and within 2 days there was loads of little tiny white dots which i knew wasnt mycelium, i ment to take loads of photos but just was lazy... anyway after 2-3 weeks mycelium started growing like mad in that jar and before i knew it most of the white dot parts were eaten by the mycelium

This is the GT one on the left that i shook once and B+ that i shook nearly every day haha i didnt read up about how much to shake till today haha
(oh i have no idea what the black spot is ... think it was just something on the jar when i was taking the picture cause its not there now

So the white spots are all gone in the jar and covered by mycelium does that means there good to spawn or can serious contam still live under mycelium

and heres the white spots on the horse poo grow

Its only on the spawn with straw in the poo ... i have to say i was warned

Oh yea an the spots occured on the rye after 24hours-2day and then didnt move at all or spread, im 99% sure they came from the LC because it was a really cloudy LC ... and the other rye jars are fine

This is the second topic like this in is many days. The jars that are now colonized are fine. Those specks appear on my wbs from time to time and pose no threat to colonization or fruiting. It could be from the LC now that I think about. I use lc's a lot as well..

Not sure about the straw. It appears to be trich or another bread mold at an early stage.

White spots, i would say can come from dust particles on your rye.

But ok ... i made a big jar of Malt extract and dextrose and then poured it into 3 jars .... so it was the same mixture into each jar, then the rye came from the same bags, all washed the same way and then spooned randomly into each jar then actually two jars were pressure cooked for 45 mins then the third jar was pressure cooked for 45mins cause they didnt all fit into the pc so maybe it was different times caused some grains to explode and then when dried created the white bits?

Does anyone have a good system for documenting how they do there grows like what strains into each and how they were done ... ive pages n pages of writing but no neat order at all  any word templates floating around?
