I need to do a reader report on this girls poems for a class, and one of her poems is about Syd Barrett, and since I had no idea who he was (I'm not a big floyd fan) I googled him, and ended up comming across this video.
Figured i'd share, its kinda neat.

Whoa that's a cool video. Damn shame he went bonkers. I suppose he must have been predisposed to getting it genetically or something?

That was beautiful. I like when he's looking at his hands and seems utterly shocked, then gets distracted by some nothingness to his left.

I bet if you were on shrooms or acid and hanging out with Syd Barrett "sober," you'd think he was a genius. Then again, I've not had acid yet nor met Syd Barrett, so what am I talking about.

I'm sure he used to be. Haven't heard much about his intellectual abilities in the past few decades though so I can't speak on that.

I can't wait to see this video, I can't as of yet (only some computers at my college can use flash). Syd is one of my favorite people out there. That guy made some very interesting music. Even when he was out , past the edge, he was still making great music, it's just harder to find it (what he was talking about in his music, it's all there you just have to search his music to find it).

It's pretty cool. I like when he starts playing with the mushrooms!
He was just a kid...

This was bought by one of my friends one time and it was under the name, Syd Barretts First Trip. On the back it said it was his first time with mushrooms.

Given the time, I think it's safe to assume that he didn't eat mushrooms, but acid. He was just playing with some non active ones.

Yeah, looks like he was picking up random plants/objects and staring at them.
I liked how amazed he looked at his hands

I would love to see a video or a recording of him on acid when they came up with the idea for Interstellar Overdrive (if one even existed). That guy is amazing...

Try wikipedia. He did go bonkers, and lives as a hermit to this day.

Id love to see the video of the weirdness in the recording studio after he had eaten too much acid, too many times. As the band put it, he was no longer a functional member of the band. Seeing him brushing his teeth while jumping up and down, and doing a wide variety of other things at the same time in the recording studio. It made a few of the members feel very sorry for him.
He was likely very much prone to having mental problems. I have eaten acid around 70 times, many of the trips were 500 mics+. It really changed my life, but never anything too scary as far as after effects go, and certainly nothing as bad as what happened to syd. I am able to trip pretty hard off of .5 grams of shrooms now though. I also will likely have subtle visuals for the rest of my life. All things that dont interfere with my life as a "normal person". What it did to my day to day cognition, is quite stunning to the point where I am by no means normal. An interesting side note, both sides of my family have people who were schizophrenic and killed themselves. Im pretty sure the tendancy didnt skip me. Somehow after 160 or so trips on ayahuasca, mushrooms, lsd, lsa's, dxm, amanitas, salvia, and smoked dmt----> I turned out ok. I certainly did stop taking them at some point, and will never do them again. I learned all I needed to know, things that most people wouldnt believe around the 100 trip mark.

Stemmer, was your final ayahuasca trip with rue or caapi? I know that you've had a bit of rue experience under your belt, but don't remember hearing about that lasting time.

this video is what life is supposed to be about.
also that girl looked so intensely beautiful and almost sexual yet entirely peaceful.

It was with rue, but I chewed the seeds, instead of tea or extraction. For me this was by far, most effective and long lasting.
Ayahuasca (rue/viridis) was my last trip ever for sure because it has lasted for about 2 years. I dont think the subtle day to day visuals will ever go away (among other things). Ayahuasca has had the most long lasting (life changing) after effects for me. Though it wouldnt have been like this If I had not tripped so many times before the end. It would be my guess that it is well known to cause some very serious after effects. As some shamans say, the best work done with ayahuasca is in the months and years that follow. Caapi has alway been smoother for me, but harder on the stomach.

You're damn right. It's a shame we can't be that in awe of the world 24/7 and still function.
And yeah, that girl... there's something about her. So beautiful and pure. The 60's rocked. I matured in the wrong decade.
Where can I download this video to keep? I'm not internet-stupid but I can't find a way to save it, only stream.
