I got a postcard from my college today inviting me to be a part of the study abroad program this fall. And I'm fortunate enough that the fall semester is going to be in London! 
I go to a community college, so even the international classes are fairly affordable, and I have all summer to save my money up in order to go. Assuming I manage to set aside all the money I need to, I'll get to live in London for 13 weeks. Included in the tuition price is living accomodations, a central London transit pass, insurance, and several guided field trips. They also offer group airfare.
If I can raise $8,165 before september of this year... I can live in London for 13 weeks. It's going to be very hard to try and set aside that kind of cash, but hopefully I can work full-time during the summer and save money working part-time this semester. Perhaps I can get a student loan, too.
As a result of this newfound need for money, I've altered my thread in the market. I am now selling a number of items in an attempt to nickel and dime part of my way towards going to london. Hopefully I can make this work!
I also need to be damn sure that my GPA this semester is at least 2.5, which I need some support and prayers to accomplish.
Also, if I may ask... would anyone know where I might find out how to look for more scholarships? I can probably have my $1,000 scholarship applied toward this, but there's still a good $7,000 left to go.

12 units. I admit I don't know if I like the selection of classes with which to fill those 12 units, but I can take one class as a distance education class too.
I suppose I could take the history class, the music appreciation class, and a communication class. That should meet the 12 units. If not, I'll toss an elective in.

The University of London Union (ULU) in Bloomsbury.
My housing is likely to be in the Kensington area.

Kensington eh? Pretty classy!
Only been to London a couple times myself... seems pretty cool - you certainly won't have a problem finding things to do.
Everything is pretty expensive there though. In fact I think British students receive ?1,000 more per year in loan money if they're studying in the smoke.

hehe, actually one of the friends i was talkin about lives on a side street right there at picadilly

you dont need a car...
spend all/most of the money of your trip, really. you have the rest of your life to try and get a crappy car, but you might be too busy in the future to travel alot. and to travel with school is a different experience than regular traveling. this could be a story you will forever remember, make it a good one.
