Best sterilisation/pasteurisation tech for compost
    #529707 -

I am working w/ compost for the first time. I searched and found one thread describing baking the compost @ 175 for two hours. Does anyone have a favorite method?

Here's a pic of the tasty stuff:

I find pasteurising in a pillowcase or somesuch, in water, to be the best method, as it leeches out any excess ammonia, which can be a problem with some manure.
That compost you've got there looks to have a lot of woodchips in it, which might not be so good. Or is it just straw?

Compost should be pasteurized. Sterilization would defeat the purpose of using Compost.
Hot water baths or steam pasteurization will be better then BAKING.

The compost pictured is mint straw compost, free of woody debris. I already baked my first batch. I will consider water pasteurisation next time.
