Reishi preparations - anyone sharing recipes?

I have someone at my farm who'd like to use the reishi I grow to aid his body in his fight against cancer. This is serious and I'd like to give him correct information. 1. How should he prepare them for his use. I told him he'd be best using it as a tea. chopped or pulverized and steeped in water. I told him to take vitamin C to aid in the absorption of high molecular weight compounds.
2.how long steeping is good?
3. Should/can he add honey or sweetener?
4. is it better to try to powder and encapsulate?
Many thanks! And just for checking this out, here's pics of the harvest;

Oh, by the way, I bit into a piece of one of the mushrooms about 20 minutes ago. I immediately noticed a few things. 1. The bitter taste - it's true, but not in a bad way, for me anyways...
2. A numbing sensation on my tongue and lips. It was like anbesol, and still feels like it a little.
3. It felt like I was taking a medicine of some kind. Like it was cleaning my mouth. Maybe it was the disgusting feeling (bad choice of words, I didn't find it unpleasant, but I didn't want to, so that could be placebo. But I didn't EXPECT any sensation at all, though it was very real.) Okay that's all for now. Hope someone knows how to use this stuff properly. Light and Love, JD

slice them. then gentle steep 20-30mins with slice fresh ginger and raw sugar. however if you were to make a mycelium mat and use that instead the fruits would be better as the properties will be higher. also mycelium mats takes 2 weeks, faster than waiting for months on the fruits. peace siam

well, mycelium mats are mycelium mats
reishi apparently grows a thick mycelium, so you can "harvest" it of agar , dry it out and use it. peace ohm

I am am very interested in this thread as well, since I have four bags of resishi sawdust blocks that I am about to induce conk formation with.
I was under the impression (perhaps mistakenly) that the fruitbodies actually contain more of the purported active "goodies" per dried gram than mycelium. Can anyone comment on this or provide data? Thanks!

sorry i haven't properly answer your question jeremy..been busy with the family..but here are some sites and quotes
http://www.geocities.com/marvellousingest/ganodermabasic2.htm
Modern bio-engineering technology has made Reishi available to the general public in large quantities. The quality can be carefully controlled by providing the best conditions and sufficient nutrients. Further investigations have discovered that the largest amount of active ingredients exist in the mycelium, and that the mycelium is more digestible. The extraction process can be timed at the precise stage when the mycelium contains the largest amount of active ingredients. Fresh mycelium is available, and there is no chance for mistaken identity. Without the obstacles of the fibers, the extraction is more complete and the extract is more digestible. Therefore, the latest research on the medicinal properties of Reishi are done on the mycelial extracts.

Former heart surgeon Dr. Fukumi Morishige, a leading authority on vitamin C in Japan, reports that when Reishi and vitamin C are combined the results against cancer and other diseases are far better than when Reishi is ingested. This is because the vitamin makes the polysaccharides more accessible to the immune system.

Steeping sliced / chopped Reishi for 30 minutes like Siam said. I never used a sweetener in my tea but then again I do not mind the bitter taste.
If you want to keep the tea for longer periods you can freeze daily protions of Reishi tea or prepare a tincture (see: http://www.rrreading.com/reishi.html)
