Unprovoked Bluing in Psilocybe caerulipes

I'm curious if this phenomenon has been noted in any other species. The stems were not touched or damaged in any way. The only thing which I can think might be causing it is camera flash. I have only noticed the bluing on mature specimens which have been photographed. Younger specimens subjected to flash do not blue, and mature ones which have not been photographed also fail to turn blue. In the wild, I have seen them blue, but always assumed if was from rain on wind damage; maybe not.
Is this the only species which exhibits this peculiar behavior?

ive never seen this on Cyans, but my first find of those new CyanoFriscosa mushrooms did have bluing that seemed un prevoked. I dont have any photos but i think ive seen it.

Are you certain that it is not a result of the tearing of the veil? I can see this happening if the were incredibly sensitive. It seems to be radiating from there. Over how long a period of time does this occur?

It's not related to tearing of the veil. If that were the case, these would have blued.
It only happens on mature specimens an hour or so after they have been photographed.

The bluing is common inthis species. HEre is a picture form Ohio of P. caerulipes naturally picked.
Although the specimens are older, the bluing is hampered by bad lighting here.
P. caerulipes

P. baeocystis.

and
P. stuntzii.
The sinlge blade of grass iont he picjked clump shows how it was when I lifted it from the lawn. The stems were blu on many of them in this lawn. IOT was at the front of the Seattle Art Museum at Volunteer park almost thirty years ago. The first blue ringers i found in my life..
All of the above species were that color when they were harvested without any human handling. It is possible your shrooms got tight in the skin of the stem form a dryness. Thus causing an oxidative occurrance form a change in their body temperature in some specimens.
I have also seen Copelandias and Panaeolus subbalteatus on Maui with the same blue silver looking color to them.
HEre are 6 of P. cyanescens with natural bluing in in situ specimens And sometimes this is common in P. cyanescens as seen in the images posted below.

Hope this was hepful and sorry about the size. I am having vision problems, double vision and dizzy speells the last three days. Not int hebest of health. My glasses are bad also and I cannot see to good, so I am trying not to spend too much time ont he screen. I get feinting spells after looking at the screen for more than a half an hour. mj mjshroomer

Thanks for the pictures MJ. Please take some time off. Your dedication is unquestioned and I'm sure everyone would me thankful in the long run if you just put all of this on the back burner for a while and took care of yourself. Please let us know when you are feeling better. ok.
