Incubation Humidity

I know I have seen threads on this subject before but I thought I would post a new one. My incubator (TiT method) is keeping about 82-84 degrees but the humidity is 85-87%. I heard 70% is optimal. Is mine too much?

Humidity isn't an issue while incubating, it's during the fruiting process where it counts. 70% is about right for casings, if you're doing cakes (PF Tek) 90-95% is needed. To reiterate: no humidity until you want shrooms to pop up.

Dirtyman is right about humidity not being a factor during incubation. The cakes are in jars, they're not even exposed to the outside air.
However, if/when you fruit casings, you'll want humidity more like mid 80%s. 70% is much too low. And for cakes I'd go with something more along the lines of 95-98%.

A little low? You really don't need any in there, in other words quite what your doing to raise that RH it's redundant. Although jars or bags with filters especially filters with larger exposed suface area will benefit from higher RH's, it keeps the substrates surface from excessively drying out and believe me they certainly can at those higher temps.
