Potash in kelp meal?

I bought the only kelp meal I could find around here to add to some h-poo. Espoma is the brand, and it claims to be "all natural organic" kelp meal, but also says it is a good source of potash - I am not so sure if I should use this brand or not. Does anybody have any experience with this brand or know if potash is anything to be concerned about?

Potash is used primarily as an agricultural fertilizer (plant nutrient) because it is a source of soluble potassium, one of the three primary plant nutrients; the others are fixed nitrogen and soluble phosphorus. Potash and phosphorus are mined products, and fixed nitrogen is produced from the atmosphere by using industrial processes. Modern agricultural practice uses these primary nutrients in large amounts plus additional nutrients, such as boron, calcium, chlorine, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, sulfur, and zinc, to assure plant health and proper maturation. The three major plant nutrients have no substitutes, but low-nutrient-content, alternative sources of plant nutrients, such as animal manure and guano, bone meal, compost, glauconite, and "tankage" from slaughterhouses, can be used. Potash denotes a variety of mined and manufactured salts, all containing the element potassium in water-soluble form.

OK, thanks for the info but I am still unclear as to whether or not it is suitable for use with mushrooms.

The kelp meal I use also contains potash and works great.

I just googled that info for you. From what I've read on it on Wikipedia, it seems to vary alot in its contents from region to region and depending on it's use, so I'm not sure anyone will be able to say for sure.

Only one way to find out.

Potash is naturally occuring in kelp meal, it is the main fertilizing component that kelp is used for in agriculture. Its not something that is added to the product. Its in all kelp meal fertilizers.
