hash making?
    #5302883 - 02/15/06 12:00 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I realise there are cheaper methods of making hash, but check this out:  http://shop.grasscity.com/shop/grasscity/acc316.html?id=pj8pEaJQ

The description doesn't really do anything for me, so I was hoping someone could explain a little better.

Basically, if I put buds/leaves/kief, just general plant matter, into this thing it will press it into hash?

Retarded question, yes, but still a question

thanks fellow members :mushroom2:

that is a resin press. resin is the trichomes , or crystals, on the buds that produces the THC. This can be collected in several ways, trough a very fine meshed screen or clothing, there are resin collection boxes availble where you put your buds in to collect it,. When you have collected enough resin, you use this device to press it together to a piece that sticks well together.

Nice. So if you took like an ounce of cheap bud, sifted it through a screen, and pressed the resin, basically you are getting the same amount of trichomes, same number of times you can get high, it would just be in a little hash brick? I bet it would taste much better, and instead of a big bag of weed you'd have just a hash cube. Sounds cool.

Wanted to add...

Will this work? A wooden frame with a silk screen, and sift bud that's been ground in a coffee grinder? And then I'll have kif ready to press?

thanks

edit - never mind, I found a cool vid that shows how to make it (just as I described)

yeah that will work. the size of the mesh will decide what quality of the hash. the finer mesh = less yield = higher % of THC.. When your yield is 20:1 you have a decent hash, same quality as the socalled "bubble hash" (which many will tell you is the best but just ignore these people, they have probably never made hash anyways) , extremly good hash is a 60:1 hash, this means that one gram was made purely out of only the mature purest resin and so fine meshed that most plant material is left behind on the screen. But also not that there is a huge difrrence in collecting very fine trichomes and leaving trichomes behind. There is no standards .the amount of trichomes varies from bush to bush, strain to strain.

I recommend buying a book named "Hashish" , its written by Robert Clarke. this is the most detailed bppk availble on the subject of hashish.

I wouldn't grind the bud in a coffee grinder, you're much better off with the coarser texture of bud ground with an ordinary bud grinder. I have a much cheaper press from Basil Bush but it works like a charm:

Awesome!  I'm ready, guys.

Young_but_cool, just curious how much plant matter would you say was used to make those peices?

Ever since I first tried hash I've wanted to do this,  I'm thinking of converting my whole stash into hash.  It just tastes so fucking good I'd smoke it if it didn't get me high

peace all

Don't know really, I didn't weigh it beforehand. 10-15 grams maybe?

For larger batches cellophane is prefered, for small ones I'm really happy with my press.
