Humidifier Alternatives

Alright what do you guys think about this? I happen to have a CPAP machine here. It's a machine used to help ppl breath when they are sleeping. It's basically an overgrown aquarium pump with a 1.25" hose that goes to this water tray type assembly. The water tray has pathways inside of it that twist around so that air has to pass over alot of water before it can exit. The end result is humidified air coming out of a 1.25" hose.
Can't wait for my hygrometer to show up so I can actually do some tests and see what kind of rh I can get.
Anyone else used one of these before? They are made to last a long time and take backpressure and everything. The one I have has a built-in filter area that accepts disposable filters.
Ah hell, let me get my camera and post a few pics.

that looks like it could be perfect - but it all depends on what size FC you are planning to use, and whether that can generate enough RH - you'll know for sure once you have your hygrometer - but even if RH is a bit low you can just put in a bit of perlite in there and your CPAP can provide a decent FAE, reducing or removing the need for manual fanning.
happy growing!!

Well I don't know, but when people talk about the cool mist kind, it is recommended that an Impeller type over the wick kind.
In other words do you know how it gets moister in the air.
Besides that it sound and looks (thanks for the pics) like it could work.

The brown tray gets half filled with water. Their are channels inside the tray(which closes to be a box) that guide the air around alot in a maze like pattern. So basically it blows air across the surface of water over a long distance.
I just got back from doing more 'kit' shopping and while I was at the pet shop I bought a lizard heating pad or whatever. This will sit under the humidifier and heat the water a little. I don't know how much it will effect it, but I do know that the warmer the air, the more moisture it will contain. Has anyone tried this technique (heating the water a little, not alot, and not heating the air at all)? I'm hoping that the end result will be high humidity air at room temperature, roughly 3-5psi, coming out at roughly 10 CFM.

I think heating the air is a lot easier/safer.
And for me when summer comes I wont need a heater at all, if anything I might look in to way to cool it down.
I think it would be best to have the heat and RH separate.

I think you misunderstand me. I dont want to heat the terrarium with air. I want to make sure that the air that comes from my humidifier is humid! :-) Warmer air = capable of carrying more water, colder air = less capable of carrying water.

I think that CPAP is neater than popped corn.
Would provided FAE, plus raise Rh slightly.
Trouble is. I doubt it will raise Rh to where you want it.
And, it is a very spendy item.
