This is really dumb, I was using my terrarium as an incubator, it was working pretty well too, then I realized that my cakes will not be ready all at once and I will need to keep some incubating while at the same time I will need some in the fruiting chamber. Well, just by luck I happen to have a hot rock, an electric rock sold for lizards, and a cardboard box about the right size. I tried them out and just by luck that rock is maintaining about 80 degrees in there, so that is my new incubator. A bonehead mistake, but no harm done after all.

Thanks for the heads up about that rock may get too hot, I will definitely keep an eye on it. I have housemates here so the top of the fridge won't work, someone will be bound to fiddle with my jars and probably contaminate them, and this house gets cold in the mornings so I do need some sort of heat source. I also have access to a heating pad, would that be better?

I had an extra drawer in my dresser and put a layer of towels on the bottom. I then set my little iguana heat rock in the middle and arranged my jars around it in a circle. I then covered everything with another towel and kept a remote digital thermometer in there. I was able to watch my temp without opening the drawer. Temps never went above 85. I rotated the jars like once a day to distribute heat evenly to all sides of the jar while it colonized. It's not the best way but it works.
