Yeah, I'm going to pick up one of those that they sell on United Nuclear. They claim their strongest magnets are the most dangerous items they carry (that's coming from a company that sells all kinds of chemicals, radioactive isotopes, uranium ore, 60kV power supplies, x-ray sources, etc...=)

Ace hardware can order some for you, they have disk type up to .7" not very big but still strong as heck. Neodymium's are good for diamagnetic levitation displays, especially with graphite discs.

Well, I trust them. A lot of places sell cheap-ass neodynium magnets and claim they're N45+. Most people who buy the probably don't check them out with a magnetometer, so it's probably not easily detectable fraud either.

> They claim their strongest magnets are the most dangerous items they carry
The magnets probably generate the most accidents, but I doubt they are the most dangerous thing they company carries. People assume that a magnet is 100% safe and become careless around it, thus raising the likelyhood of an injury. Having been around some very large and powerful magnets, I can appreciate how easy (and painful) it is to smash ones finger. You know it is a strong magnet when you walk into the room and your keychain starts to pull at your pocket.

I have been pinched by one big magnet and a larger metal object and it's no joke. Two magnets...ouch!

even better, you start to wonder why every computer you walk past suddenly gets erased, and all your VHS tapes stopped playing.
they do use this type of mag. in most dynamic microphones. handhelds and the life.
find someone with a prison tattoo, and toss the magnet in bed with them. it will physically extract the iron atoms from shitty ink right out of the skin. MRI's accomplish the same thing. it would hurt like gangbusters, and be messy. so don't do this to your girlfriend. but sticking it to her nipple rings might prove amusing.
