idk why people dislike dxm so much on these boards. i think it is quite a cool drug for a handful of times a year or less.
anyhoo, the two are completely different.

Mushrooms can twist you inside out, but as someone who has been hurt by past use of pharmecutical drugs, I can say I trust mushrooms as an entheogen that all I can reason is that humans coevolved with and have never felt any physical harm from them. They are the teachers and food of the gods. Any human attempt to reproduce it never measures up...

loook up a thing called "Olney's Legions"
Bad trips are hell. THE FEAR, man, The absolute paranoia I experienced when I had my first and only (so far) bad trip made me want to die.
I'd tripped plenty of times before that, but still nothing could of prepared me for that. Saying that I've tripped since and its been fine.

Mushrooms can be hell...
I have a very strong feeling that you have deeply seeded unresolved issues. Don't take offense... trying to help you... You need to work those out before you try having any strong trips. You should work on some meditations and introspection.
Work with a Shaman could probably have your problems dealt with in a short period of time...
Mushrooms can be hell on the body and mind. Mushrooms can even be used as a tool to resolve such issues via some very serious and deep introspection.....No reason to assume that such metal and bodily shock on a nice thick dose means you have unresolved metal issues. I know people including myself that can take more acid than most people would even dream of taking. Mushrooms are much harder on our bodies though. You cant always control the unconscious elements of your neurology. Shamans may sing you into a trance, they may tell you that everything is ok and how, but you ultimately need to really figure that out on your own.
Going through a hellish experience is ideal when rebirthing. Lots of people experience ayahuasca that way, and they get SO MUCH out of it in the end... Its all a process per trip. There is nothing wrong with explaining a difficult experience as being quite hellish.
I have tripped over 170 times, at about the 100 trips mark is when thing got most interesting/divine, yet there was more potential for a hellish aspect added to it. My body had become so sensative that the structure of the hallucinogenic experience kind of takes over. Thats when it gets really good, but it also can be very scary in more ways that one.
Just thought id mention that.

Well, both drugs do give you a bit of a body load (dxm much moreso than mush) and I have experienced lilliputian (objects or body parts seem smaller or futher in distance) hallucinations on both drugs. Other than that, nothing much at all.
As a former reg dexer, shrooms totally blow dxm out of the water.

As I have yet to try mushrooms I can't compare them. But I can compare dxm to acid which I have tried and is close enough chemicaly to mushrooms and in the same class. To me dxm is more of a serious experiance( I always do high third plateaus). Once you have eaten the dxm you are commited to a having you mind fucked everywhich way in a helpful/spiritual way. Imo they need not be compared as they are two completely different things.

Who actually drinks a lot of cough syrup to get high? I heard you breathing is affected on it and I heard that you're one sip away from passing out if you're tripping on it. What a stupid thing to do... I think they are pretty much nothing alike either, i haven't experience DXM though.
-------------------- I believe with the advent of acid we discovered new way to think and it had to do with piecing together new thoughts of mind. Why is it that people think it's so evil? What is it about it that there is scares people so deeply? Because they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted. That there are doors that they're afraid to go in and they don't want us to go in there either because if we go in, there we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control.
