Personality Test
#5297617 - 02/13/06 11:59 PM (17 years, 11 months ago) |
|
|
Inspired by taking the Jung-Myers-Briggs personality test, I thought I'd set up a poll here for people to see how their personalities are measured according to the assessment. I found the results interesting and I thought some of you would too. I wonder how different the typology breakdown will be on the shroomery vs. the given figures in the link...that should be interesting too.
Feel free to post anything relevant.
Preliminary info on the test.

On the real Meyer Briggs test, I scored INTX... low on the I (almost balanced), strong on the N and T, and balanced on the P/J, though leaning towards P slightly. On this test, I scored INTJ... medium on the I, weak on the N and T, and medium on the J... The Meyer Briggs score is much closer to my actual personality than the test from the link provided.

No credit is due, I didn't write any of that
I found that whole myersbriggs section on another site on the web about 4-5 years ago and thought it was a GREAT write up on the MBTI and the various types. I went looking for it again about a year ago and was horror-stricken when the old site appeared to be down for good
Praise the Internet Archive! Because they had a full copy of the site on record that I was able to backup and post on my own site
That section gets more hits than anything else on my site, these days (not that I have much on there)

Shroomery members are all introverts or that extroverts don't care about filling out personality tests?

I think it mostly has to do with the Introversion aspect. Extroverts are very "people oriented" types - they need to be around other people. They get their energy from direct social interaction. Thus they are much more likely to be out somewhere with a big group of friends than spend their time on the internet.
Introverts, on the other hand, tend to feel drained by direct social interaction. We spend much more of our time "alone" in a direct physical sense. That leaves us with a lot more time to spend online - where we can be "social" without the draining aspects of direct physical interaction.
On top of that, Intuitives tend to gravitate towards each other and similar ideas. Intuitives use a markedly different form of communication than Sensing types do - involving a lot more abstract thought.
So I would propose that a internet site such as The Shroomery attracts both Introverts and Intuitives due to the abstract and non-direct social interaction it provides

I'm an INTP and a Comp Sci/Philosophy Double major.
who ever said about 90% of compsci majors being INTP's I fit that I guess.
It's interesting to me that here INTP seems to be the majority of people so far...more people need to take the poll. INTP is definately a minority personality type when you cross section society as a whole.
I can see why IN types would be more into shrooms and the like though...not saying the other types can't like them, I just see the appeal for those IN's out there.

I think it's interesting that nearly all of us are listed as introverted. Usualy, introverts are more prone to self-exploration so I suppose that's why we like shrooms as opposed to more social drugs (coke etc)

INTP. it all seems to fit, except for this part, it doesn't sound like me at all:
Mathematics is a system where many INTPs love to play, similarly languages, computer systems--potentially any complex system. INTPs thrive on systems. Understanding, exploring, mastering, and manipulating systems can overtake the INTP's conscious thought. This fascination for logical wholes and their inner workings is often expressed in a detachment from the environment, a concentration where time is forgotten and extraneous stimuli are held at bay. Accomplishing a task or goal with this knowledge is secondary.
there were a lot of questions that a yes or a no couldn't answer though. they were too general, if they got a little more specific i could answer with a yes or no.
i think that it's kind of funny that one of our fictional counterparts is:

INFP --And almost dead on at that.
Struggling with the good and evil, as it were. Hell, I demonstrate that everyday, I am obsessed with balance and karmic rule! If I do something I deem wrong, I am required to "make it up" by doing something good--This keeps karmic balance. That's not to say that I purposely do things wrong, because I know I can make up for them. But if something happens that I can not avoid, it gives me a way out and eliminates guilt. In theory, should karmic rule be a reality, this would repair bad karma, so far, it seems to be working.
I often relate most to free thinking individuals, thoughts that aren't always bound in the here and now. Most days, I'm one of them. But, as the discription says, I can always wear my ESTJ business suit. Which basically reflects in my being a people person when I want to, but it's more of like a responsibility or chore than something I enjoy.
I also scored the same on the Briggs test, interesting indeed.

I took this test back when it was first posted but I don't have a clue what I scored. Here's what I got this time around:
ENTJ
Extroverted 56% Intuitive 12% Thinking 12% Judging 22%
Last time I was some kind of teacher. The description of ENTJ is a "Fieldmarshal."
Quote:
Fieldmarshals will usually rise to positions of responsibility and enjoy being executives. They are tireless in their devotion to their jobs and can easily block out other areas of life for the sake of their work. Superb administrators in any field -- medicine, law, business, education, government, the military -- Fieldmarshals organize their units into smooth-functioning systems, planning in advance, keeping both short-term and long-range objectives well in mind. For the Fieldmarshals, there must always be a goal-directed reason for doing anything, and people's feelings usually are not sufficient reason.
That sounds a good bit like me, but not exactly. That description sounds too rigid and dictator-esque to be me.
I'm going to take the test again and be more impulsive about answering questions. I thought long and hard about each question the first time.
Second try: Hah. I got the same thing, just different percentages. Guess I am ENJT personality type.
