Personality Test
#5297617 - 02/13/06 11:59 PM (17 years, 11 months ago) |
|
|
Inspired by taking the Jung-Myers-Briggs personality test, I thought I'd set up a poll here for people to see how their personalities are measured according to the assessment. I found the results interesting and I thought some of you would too. I wonder how different the typology breakdown will be on the shroomery vs. the given figures in the link...that should be interesting too.
Feel free to post anything relevant.
Preliminary info on the test.

INTP here, and quite strongly! My % of preference for each letter is:
I - 100 N - 88 T - 88 P - 56

On the real Meyer Briggs test, I scored INTX... low on the I (almost balanced), strong on the N and T, and balanced on the P/J, though leaning towards P slightly. On this test, I scored INTJ... medium on the I, weak on the N and T, and medium on the J... The Meyer Briggs score is much closer to my actual personality than the test from the link provided.

INTJ on both scales, and slightly annoyed at only being allowed YES/NO answers.

Well I'll go out on a fairly sturdy limb and predict that we will have an overwhelming majority of Introverts and Intuitives on this site

I think I can take the real test at career services at my school. I'll probably do that at some point soon and i'll report the results and compare them with the test from the link.

No credit is due, I didn't write any of that
I found that whole myersbriggs section on another site on the web about 4-5 years ago and thought it was a GREAT write up on the MBTI and the various types. I went looking for it again about a year ago and was horror-stricken when the old site appeared to be down for good
Praise the Internet Archive! Because they had a full copy of the site on record that I was able to backup and post on my own site
That section gets more hits than anything else on my site, these days (not that I have much on there)

So what's our conclusion?
Shroomery members are all introverts or that extroverts don't care about filling out personality tests?

I think it mostly has to do with the Introversion aspect. Extroverts are very "people oriented" types - they need to be around other people. They get their energy from direct social interaction. Thus they are much more likely to be out somewhere with a big group of friends than spend their time on the internet.
Introverts, on the other hand, tend to feel drained by direct social interaction. We spend much more of our time "alone" in a direct physical sense. That leaves us with a lot more time to spend online - where we can be "social" without the draining aspects of direct physical interaction.
On top of that, Intuitives tend to gravitate towards each other and similar ideas. Intuitives use a markedly different form of communication than Sensing types do - involving a lot more abstract thought.
So I would propose that a internet site such as The Shroomery attracts both Introverts and Intuitives due to the abstract and non-direct social interaction it provides
