Hi i was wondering if anyone was successful with the "poor man's method" ;as named on this site... which is using 2 liter bottles as the fruiting chambers. Anyone? if anyone has pics that would be awesome... also, what species' spores would you recomend i buy for this method.

Yeah, I've done it. Work fine, however doesn't leave much room for the mushies to grow, so they go all twisted and whatnot. Coffee cans also work great. Really any small container like that will do. I have pics, but I don't feel like uploading them, and they're not really worth it either. They're super simple. Just a bit of saturated perlite on the bottom, that's it.

saturated perlite at the bottom? so just put pure perlite on the bottom, should it be moist? the grow guide was very vague when it came to describing the setup of the poor man chamber. it just said "You can put a wet paper towel for moisture at the bottom"

Saturated = moist to the fullest extent.
Don't do the wet paper towel thing, that's asking for contamination. Just get a bag of perlite, it's like 2-3 bucks at lowes or home depot. Pour the amount of perlite you'll be using into a bowl, then pour water in the bowl, then mix it up and let it sit for a minute or two, then drain out all the running water and voila - saturated perlite.

well...
you could use the smaller 3 gallon rubbermaid containers instead of the larger ones... and use a smaller submersible aquarium heater...say a 50 or 75 watt one.

ive used a two liter bottle with good success.
i crumbled a cake or two? into the bottom and put some casing on it. i would open it and quickly fan a few times a day. i got 5 flushes off it. make sure the bottom is blocked off from light.

Be careful in dorms... Seems like there is a good chance that you will get kicked out of school.

Also, what are the "micro filters" that i saw people talkin about on the "poorman with a twist" post.
When I spray the chamber for daily moisture, what do i spray, the perlite?

No light on the bottom??? So I shouldnt shine any light on the saturated perlite? why is that?

If your room temp is above like 65F, then yes, room temp is fine.

upside down peanut butter jar. never needed perlite beucase teh size was small enough my damn towl and dunked cake had enough humidity. the jar is upside down beucase its easyer to remove the cake if it lives on the lid rather then way down in the bottom of the jar.
