So when I listen to some cheese trance like yahel-voyage (if you havent heard it, its very melodic and uplifting), I feel awsome and I can definatly enjoy the intense melodic riffs.
Now...
When Im up there high as a kite and I listen to it, everything changes. I dont respond to pitch, melody. I dont know the right vocabulary to describe it, but its like.. I cant hear the intense melodic riffs. I hear the music, but the melody means nothing, it has no power.
That is why I think I choose to listen to psy trance. My mind is put into an orgasm over surrounding sounds and the imaginary depth or position. Ive grown so fond of what I call positioning. Making something sound like its 2 feet from you, behind you, or what not.
Does anyone ever get this? where normal melodic songs have no effect when high.

You describe all the points of music I enjoy most on marijuana, I think I analyze the production and it helps me understand what the artist intended. Then again sometimes I get all caught up in what the production is trying to achieve and I can't just enjoy the music for what it is.

I usually find that harmoney and melody and rhythm and the overall feel of music is intensified.
If I listen to rap, it sounds oh so "gangster".
And if I listen to pink floyd, the notes of a guitar solo ring out so perfectly and epicly.
And if I listen to Bob Marley it is just so happy and friendly and loving and fun.
These feelings get intensified when I am high.

Marijuana and music go hand in hand for me...
Not just listening to it... but playing it as well.
I find that when I listen to music high, I can concentrate on multiple aspects of the song simultaneously. This allows the complexity to really be heard, especially with artists such as Shpongle who really layer each song with many different depths.
I also understand what you mean by 'positioning', and the clarity of it definitely is enhanced with a toke or two.
A bit of herb also allows me to really feel the emotion of a song better. It is easier to relate to music while stoned.
That is my (high) experience

I usually always listen to music while I toke. Yeah, I guess it makes it sound better for the duration of the high...just something I like doing.

It definitely isn't just for the duration of the high for me. Ever since I discovered the sweet recipe of music + bud it has opened my mind to a new way of listening to music.
Maybe this has to do with being a musician myself... but I really don't know. All I know for sure is that I love to toke and do one of four things: Play music, listen to music, experience nature, or spend time with (like minded) people. The best is when all four happen at the same tiem

Yeah herb opens you up to new ways of experiencing, not to say anything of stronger drugs. X was one that turned me on to life as pure pleasure!

Well...I'd have to say I disagree for two reasons.
One, cheese trance started my love for music. Yeah it's cheesy now, but before I heard my first Paul Oakenfold set I didn't even care about music. It's too deeply imbedded in my brain for me to not enjoy it high, or even sober for that matter. Maybe not cheese trance per se..but a lot of EDM still gets me off hard.
And two, I just don't always feel that way. If there is an intense hands-in-the-air buildup I'll enjoy it no matter what as long as it doesn't suck. High or not I'm gonna enjoy it. But that probably has a lot to do with #1.

Smoke pot and play guitar. When I play sober, i'm a lot more critical of the sound, but high, it all just fucking rocks.

I hear that. When I'm synth programming sober, most things I come up with dissapoint me. But if I'm super baked it all rocks and I get a lot more done.
