Glove box fan ??

Wow its been a while since I posted a question, I have a glovebox allready and I want to make it positive air box because the lysol seems to effect everything I do inside of it, I just made 10 spore syringes and the spores wont germinate they are dead and i think Lysol is the culprit. My question is as dumb as it sounds does the fan blow into or out of the glovebox, somthing tells me its into the box but I want to make sure before I waste any more time on this.

I have a pc type fan, you can get a radio shack though I'm sure there are better places and it is going though a small hepa filter.
I gave up on the gloves, so the air comes out of the arm holes. I also used Silicone on the underneath side of the lid, to help force the air out of the arm holes.

still air boxes are better.
but if you insist on putting a fan onto your glove box...
you want the air blowing in.
and make sure you have a good filter to keep the contams out.

Still air is FAR BETTER.
Mine is still air.
I do have a 6 inch square patch of medical grade TYVEK on the outside & another facing in on the INSIDE (1/4 inch space between the 2).
Which allows for passive gas exchange. So that evaporation can effectively take place.
I simply spay the inside with a light mist of H202. Wipe that down with a sterile pad. Then use another sterile pad to wipe the inside down with 70% alc. Then let it evaporate.

Well if still air boxes are better, then why is everything I do inside there end up dead? This is what I do Use lysol to clean out box, (wipe sides bottom top and gloves with Lysol) With lid open I give a good spray about a foot above box and close lid. Wait 15 mins (I also tried waiting an hour) Then work My problem isnt with contams nothing has been contaminated inside of the box, its just that nothing grows, Ive tried Agar plates-(no growth) and syringes Roadkill or Agar what would you suggest I do?

I wipe down the inside of my box with 99% alcohol...cause it dries faster than 70%.
I spray the air with Oust and put the lid on...I don't use Lysol.
I wait 15 to 20 minutes and go at it.
I've never had a problem with contams or killing spores or cultures in the box.

Well it seems like you know what your problem is...
The Lysol.
On the advice from Roger Rabbit. I have been just using soap and water to clean mine or I use isopropanol alcohol.
Haven't had a problem making syringes or doing G2G.
Edit: Well looks like I'm a little slow....ahh well I'll throw my two cents at ya anyways.

I wouldn't trade my posi flow glovebox for a still one . Makes loading and unloading quart jars for G2G too easy . I can do 4 cases of quarts with never having to open it , re sterilize it and wait for things to settle . If you build one correctly they work like a champ

Lol Ive been looking at her work for a year now, and I built my greenhouse like hers (only I use a ultra sonic also).. she does great work. So now Im conflicting between two growers that I greatly respect. I guess I can make it still air with filter and clean with alcy, then if that doesnt work Ill use that same hole to use a hepa filter and fan....

I don't always use mine as a posi flow , I also use it as a still . Just depends on what I'm doing .

The problem with posi flow boxes is they HAVE to be built right . No air can enter anywhere but through the HEPA filter , and it has to be a good one . The little one I used on my glovebox was $40 . Just like a flow hood . They are great , as long as they're constructed properly .
You don't really need a posi flow . I just love to build things and I do a lot of G2G.

i JUST built my GB recently. it's a still air as of now. i used the 4'' pvc end caps like Roadkill. i also used a bit of dryer ducting and heavy rubber gloves. already i dont think i'll like using the gloves how they are.
i was wondering about the lid...
do you guys all just get plexiglass or lexan cut to use as a lid?

My glovebox came with a clear lid, not as clear as plex, but Ive seen the proccess many times in detail before so I dont need it that clear... I did use copper gasket maker for the lid though so it has a tight seal when closed.
