peat moss?

HI I'm a newbie to all this, been Reading about casing 50/50 method and am going to give it a shot with my pf jars. Ive found everything i need only, i cant find peat moss in th UK?
Is this just an American term for compost, can i use houseplant compost?
as long as it has some peat in it and is sterilized of course! :mushroom2:

No you can't use compost in your casing layer . Too many hutrients . Compost is a substrate for growing , not casing .

Peat Moss is Peat Moss . Mine comes from Canada so I doubt it's an American thing . You can check for coco coir if you can't find peat moss . You should be able to . Call some nurseries or garden stores .

You are looking for Sphagnum Peat Moss .

Don't know where you're located , but the Home Depot near me just got their first shipment of Jiffy Mix in . It's Peat and Vermiculite already ph balanced and ready to go .
