Is there any Spanish strains? Thinking of collecting one from wild
    #5294387 - 02/13/06 11:20 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I'll be going to an area in Spain that has a lot of cows and cows do have a tendency to produce cow poo, which as we all know is Psilocibe Cubensis' favourite food.

I also know that P. C. grows in Spain.

I thought it might be interesting to take my dissecting kit and some sterile agar tubes and try and find an interesting strain.

Any tips on doing so? Would it be worthwhile?

known species of Psilocybe recognized from Spain, include the already known Psilocybe semilanceata (from the Pyrenees regions of Navarra, Aragon and Catalonia) and now from Galicia and the recently discovered Psilocybe hispanica From two regions in Spain and now Psilocybe galaeciae Guzman and M. L. Castro known only from Galicea, Spain where it grows gregariously in soils, in grasslands and gardens. Allegedly it is the most common picked species in Spain.

There are also unconfirmed reports of P. cyanescens in Spain.
Psilocybe liniformis,
and Psilocybe strictipes, the latter two macroscopically resemble the liberty cap,
Pluteus atricapillus
and Copelandia cyanescens along the Riviera.

mjshroomer,

All are fall mushrooms except the Copelandia species. qwhich grows int he warmer months in manure.
