The Next Big Thing

OK, most of you yuppie honkies probably couldn't give a shit less about rap, but I'm here to let you know what's happening.
As you may or may not know, the south is dominating the scene currently. People like Chamillionaire, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Bun B are on top. All of these people came out of the mixtape circuit. More specifically, the screw scene. They've yet to come across the right time to bring screw mainstream, and it might not happen at all.
But that's not what I'm focusing on here. Like I said they all came from the mixtape circuit, and that's where the next generation will come from. I'll save your doped out brains from going through all of the people I think will be the next big artists, and instead I will bring one to your attention.
His name is Papoose. He's from NY(the next set of artists will all be from there), and has been destroying mixtape after mixtape. He recently did a project with DJ Kay Slay titled "A Threat and A Promise". If you want to get a feel for his skill, find it. There are few people that have the skill he does, and nobody has been moving CDs like him. It won't be long before he's signed, if he's not already.
Now when you start hearing about him, or hearing his tracks, you can say "daimyo was right"

Remember what you heard? Or what you didn't like about it?
Anyhow, check out his new stuff before you totally write him off.

I like some rap... it's gotta have intelligence though. I hate hearing about how much money, cars, guns, bitches someone claims to have just because they're trying to project a tough image. I don't buy it. BUT, there's a few out there I love and have been to several shows for (which is kinda not like me, I'm more of a club kid who likes DnB/Jungle).
To name a few that I think are truely good: Hangar 18 (couple guys from NY) Asheru Blue Black Mos Def (always) Blackalicious
-------------------- ........someday I'll find it.

Papoose can dish out a nice freestyle. One of my favorites, Westside Story.

I have never heard of Asheru, but I love the others that you mentioned. I'm sure you've heard of Common, Talib Kwali, Jurassic 5, Collective Efforts, and others like them. I totally agree with what you said about Bling rap, too. Well said.

Asheru is the guy that does The Boondocks theme song...
"I am the stone that the builder refused I am the visual, the inspiration That made Lady Sing the Blues...
I'm the spark that makes your idea bright The same spark that lights the dark So that you can know your left from your right...
I am the ballot in the box, the bullet in the gun The innerglow that lets you know To call your brother, son...
The story that just begun The promise of what's to come And I'm a remain a soldier 'til the war is won
Judo Flip, chop chop chop"
Fuckin' sweet he is....
...and hell yea Ima remain a soldier...

Talib's finest hour was prolly "Quality"
The Beautiful Struggle wasnt all that great.. I mean, compared to most of the shit thats being put out now-a-days, it was fire, but compared to his other stuff it was nothing special.
Right About Now: The Official Sucka Free Mixtape was his latest retail cd. It's some really good stuff. I highly reccomend it.
And see if you can grab any Black Star. Im sure you know, but if you dont, its Talib and Mos Def.

That track is great stuff. And Busta is no slouch, he can spit hotter than than the sun when he wants.

No, what was he on? I made this thread because I've been listening to too many mixtapes lately. I've heard him progress, and slaughter track after track just like I listened to Cham, Paul, Mike, and Slim do the same before they made it into the mainstream.
