do you wait for something to happen...
or do you make something happen?
I feel like i'm constantly waiting for something.... and what a crappy feeling. I want to create and make something but always put myself down before I even try. I usually tell myself it won't be good enough or there has to be something better... so i just end up sitting and being numb/depressed.

I am not sure if this is what you mean, but I find creating some music, playing an instrument, reading, writing, thinking, drawing etc. are all great ways to create and feel good and productive.

I know what you're saying. Yeah, anybody can do anything, but the people who want to get discouraged by the hopeless beliefs that people feed each other. When you get an idea, go for it. If you have something big you want to do just do it and don't take into consideration those doubts. Doubts = bad habits. What is it you want to create/accomplish btw?

have you ever read cheri huber? i read about 30 pages of one her books in a bookstore and it really helped me get over those ways of thinking. just the titles of her books such as "there's nothing wrong with you" and "when you're falling, dive" are inspirational.

hello there friend...
1st, heres a quote u may find inspiring...
"There are 3 types of people in the world:
a tiny few who make things happen, a slightly larger number who watch things happen, and all the rest who go around saying "what's happening, what's happening?"
believe me, i've felt the way u have before...in fact, i kinda felt that way today...and it really pissed me off...
what is it exactly that u want to "create or make"??
my personal advice is either sit in total silence, or sit there with some of your favorite music in the background...no tv, no distractions of kids running around etc....find "your space" and just let your thoughts flow from pen to paper....
DONT THINK...just write....thinking is what causes you to go "blank"...when u TRY to create sumthing, usually it doesnt work...it just has to COME NATURALLY...
so seriously, take that advice, and take this last piece of advice with u as well...
whether its a poem, a drawing, a journal entry, or just plain writing...dont try to make it FOR someone...its not there for an audience...it is YOU ADDRESSING YOURSELF...getting in touch with yourself and no one else....no one is around to judge, read, or criticize it but YOU.
with that said, good luck.

dude take control of your own life first before you trying to fix others. I find that handywork around the house usually helps me feel productive, rather than sitting in front of the TV all day.
what mirror said is right, but he neglects to mention that tiny few are not lifelong members for the most part, most fail and go back to being the watchers, or the clueless. Einstein wrote his theory of relativity in his 20s spent the rest of his life grasping for the theory of everything, adn meanwhile all pyschics and science just left him behind.
We all play different parts in life at different times. Just ride the wave. what you do and how you do it arent who you are man. You'll drive yourself mad unless you let go of that. peace

in summary, as Gomp (and I) say:
Don't TRY, just DO !
(I alwasy ad here: 'Trying' should only be used in past tense, as describing something someone was doing, but failed. There is no present state of acting that is called 'trying'. Do it, or let it be (done) )

TameMe, I make music. I live for it.
I noticed recently while listening to a broad playlist I assembled of very different genres, my attitude of many was "I can do that. I can make music like that."
I've changed my outlook from "I can make something" to "I can make Anything", and it's seemed to alter my results drastically! I'm now playing out a lot in my band, I'm about to send out some demo CDs of my electronic music, and I've even started venturing into commercial soundtracking.
My point is, BELIEVE you can do something, THAT thing, ANYthing, and you can.
Do it. Seriously, Do it.
Another story: I was working on my final composition for college, and I spent a month completely stumped. no ideas. everything was crap. I was totally numb. I actually ate a bunch of mushrooms, and recorded the dumbest 4 note thing---the only thing I could think of. two days later half my composition was written!
anything, create it yourself!
