IME, g2g work well. I've had one that I though may have been contammed, which i threw away. i believe its because my polyfil got wet during pressure cooking and it wicked in a contam. i caught it right away and threw it out and i havent noticed any in all the other jars. i crumbed a 1/2 pint brf/verm cake and used it to inoculate about 6-8 jars. I put a lot in some to get quick colonization, and not as much in others for longer term colonization. It takes a few days to the myc to recover. I just did a g2g last night and i checked about an hour ago and they are already starting to colonize some jars with lots of the crumbled cake..
i havent had good experience with LC.. although i think i have two working, they are going slow -- but its because i put small chunks of myc of the cake in there, instead of using spore syrings.
g2g = good, but you need to have a sterile area, glove box, plastic pag... etc

I just did 4 g2g transfers (WBS -> WBS) in OPEN AIR with no contams. I just wiped a spoon with isopropyl, dug a spoonful out of one jar and as quick as possible dumped it in the other, shook and incubated. I chose my fastest colonizer (Brazilian), and 4 days later it's almost completely colonized. G2g kicks ass in my books Not least of all because it worked with minimal sterile technique (which, I hastily add, is not to be widely recommended).

You can only transfer 2 or 3 times before the mycelium Alzheimer's kicks in resulting in slow growth and poor yield. After 3 transfers, I always get some fresh DNA in the mix.

why not just use agar then once you isolate the best strain(pure strain) put in a tube with sterile water and put in the fridge then just go back to that

Don't tighten the lids all the way! Leads to slow colozination.

no. do tighten the lids all the way, so that air is not coming in from around the lid. it does not harm colonization times because you will get gas exchange through the filter you should have on the lid of any grain jar you do. i tighten mine as much as fucking possible and the myc fucking flies through it, leave that lid loose and you will get fast colonization by green, grey, and bacteria.
