Size of shrooms when harvesting

I have just harvested my first flush from my first 5 PF Tek cakes (YAY!!!!) I harvested just when the caps started to become unstuck as the PF Tek says.
What makes me wonder is that all the pics posted on the board seem to have quite big shrooms with fully open caps. Is this just done to make good looking shroom porn or is there any advantage in letting the fruit bodies get bigger?
Most of my fruits where one to two inches long when I harvested them. If it is of any use, I'm using the Golden Teacher strain.
Thanks

I let them grow another day after the caps open. Just long enough for them to get heavy but before they drop spores everywhere. Might as well let them get big tho right?

What do you mean by becoming "unstuck"? Did the veils break? The main advantage with letting mushies mature is the size thing. Bigger mushies equals more weight.

In order to get good prints you need to allow the cap to open so that the bottom in nearly horizontal.
Larger mushrooms also have the advantage of more final mass.

But bigger shrooms are less potent so why would you want more weight, you should just adjust your dose accordingly, no?
I can't help thinking that letting them grow saps the cakes of water (as we know, growing bodies don't use up more nutrients).
Is there any advantage to a greater weight?

They're not that much less potent. I mean they don't just stop producing psiloc[yb]in at any point before reaching maturity. They just don't produce as much.

I've never seen scientific evidence to back that up. PF made this claim a long time ago and the belief kind of just stuck around. Some people still claim it's true. I don't really notice a difference myself.
