Is there any good reason to partition my hard drive this way?
    #5291175 - 02/12/06 11:13 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

I'm just installed a Plextor DVD burner and am in the process of backing up everything on my girlfriends computer.  This is being done in preparation to reinstall XP.

When I installed it before, I partitioned the 40 gig ( :smirk:, and she'll never even come close to filling it up) hard drive with about 10 gigs on C and 30 on D.  My thinking was to leave the operating system only on c, everything else on D.  Problem is that so many things still find their way on C, even if their primary program is on D.  Not only that, but I thought I read some time later that this doesn't even provide any worthwhile performance gains.

This true?  Should I just leave the whole thing as C?

Well, it's nice to be able to back stuff up just by copying it to another partition of the same drive. Other than that, I can't think of anything too important.
