Using a fake name to order

If your order something to your house with a fake name, and they make you sign for it, will they give you the package even though the names don't match?

As far as I know anyone at the address can sign for something. I was working in a small office for a while and a package came in addressed to someone else, but I was the only one there and signed for it. Perhaps there are different types of signature services or something, that require the addressed individual to sign, I don't know. Maybe you can find out what exact shipping option it was.. ups, usps, etc?

Yeah you can sign for it even if you're not who its addressed to.
Like what Eris said. I've signed stuff that was addressed to my parents

Bad idea. Yes, your delivery person will make you sign for it but if you're not the person there when the delivery comes, that can be bad.
Being a vendor here, I've seen many people do this and many times the package is returned to us.
The choice is yours, be careful.

I know at where I used to work, I could sign for anything that came in whether USPS or UPS. But I'm not sure how it works for residential deliveries.

"just sign your name here" so id sign "your name"
or if they say john hancock then id sign "john hancock"
It's all about the Smiley Face though...that makes them mad lol...they get out the door and see the signature and look back with a smug look

Most signatures consist of straight lines with a few squiggles anyway. Provided that they don't actually need the name of the person the package is addressed to, and just someone present to confirm that it arrived... seems that it really doesn't matter.
