Help what did i do wrong, pf tek jars not colonizing
    #5291034 - 02/12/06 09:33 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

ok its day 2 sence i inoculated and still nothing happening im worried first i read the pftek grow guides followed one to the tee using 6 jars i mixed up a batch of vermiculite and brf(the brf was rice put in coffe grinder till it became flour) and water. put tin foil over all my jars and put them in a pot filled it about an inch up the jars and slowly brought to a simmer/boil for 1.5 hours after i let the jars cool for aproximately 6-7 hours then got my ecuadorian syringe out sterilized needle inncoulated 3 jars then sterilized the needle again now there in a rubbermaid tub wrapped in a quilt next to a heat vent temp in the room is 70-80 ferenheit i see no white spots on any jars and am worried that nothing is happening did i inoculate to early? temp not right? ahhhhh nothing ever works out for me i cant even seem to germinate seeds

any info or insight would be help full i still have about 4cc of spores so i can try a new batch but im going to wait anohter day to see if they will colonize

This is probably one of the most annoying questions asked I find...

"I just inoculated, theres no myc growth! its been five minutes, it must be contammed" :p

With that out of my system, jar's can take up to two weeks to show any signs at all of myc growth. be patience

dude if ur temps are say 65-70, it could take nearly 2 months for complete colonization... when i made cakes we "gave up" casue after 3wk we could see no white growth... we didn't check for prolly 3 more weeks and when we went to throw the shit away we ended up with some very well colonized cakes

Well like the others said, just wait longer, two days isn't gonna be the colonizing time for all strains or for all people. I doubt that its ruined.

However I urge you to make a LC (liquid culture) with the remaining mixture in the syringe. Just in case something does get F'ed up, you can always pul some outta your culture. Plus using a liquid culture usually speeds up the colonization time.
