When you set the time make sure you stand back and start the microwave with a broom or something. Make a video too.

Gas needs a spark to ignite, throw some crumbled up tin foil in there as well.

see, now thats what I was wondering. Does gas need a spark, or could you just heat it up so much that it combusts?

Anything will combust if you heat it up enough. The question here is whether or not a microwave can produce a temperature high enough to cause combustion in gasoline. Hmm, I'm sure somebody has tried this before. I think I'll google it

if you just let the gasoline boil inside of the microwave long enough, no doubt the vapors would find their way to the electronics. There would probably be something there that would spark eventually.
If not, if you cut the wires to the fan inside the microwave, the magnetron tube would probably get hot enough to ignite the gas. You do not need a spark to ignite any substance, you just need to heat it to the point of combustion. A spark is just a convenient way to heat a small area and start things blazing.
If you put tinfoil in there though... that would work.
But waiting longer would let more vapor build up and mix with the air... which would create a pretty damn big explosion, gasoline has a pretty damn extreme explosive force when in vapor form and mixed with air.

I'm pretty sure I've seen video footage of a microwave exploding before. I don't know how they did it though.
If you put some old TNT inside a microwave I bet it would explode. That shit is extremely unstable.

There was a website (I can't recall the url, though) where these guys put all sorts of weird shit in a microwave like small neon bulbs and the like, although it was nothing flammable or explosive, alas.

I have a better idea for ya...
Get a nice big arc welder. Crank the amperage up as high as it will go. Get a nice fat welding rod and put it in the holder. Clamp the ground wire to a full 20 pound propane tank. Strike an arc on the side of the tank and see how long you can hold it in one spot.
Report back to us.

Strap a small pipe bomb to a propane tank, put 40 feet of cannon fuse on it, drive out to the country, put it in the middle of a corn field, light the fuse and drive away.
Come back around the same parts in a couple days to see how much of a crop circle you left!

Naw dude, put a kerosene-soaked flaming rope next to it and drill it with a scoped 3030 from 100 yards away.
That way you get to SEE the FIREBALL.

I like your idea better. But would that explode or just shoot a jet of flame? Because it's been proven that most bullet holes aren't big enough to rupture a pressure tank like that.

Ever seen what a .22 does to a sealed soda can?
Now multiply that by 10x.
3030's are damn potent rifles.

I'm not very well versed with guns, but I've seen what happens when a full scuba tank was shot with an M1 garand, from the side and the bottom, and all it did was punch a hole and rocket around while the gas escaped.
It took a peice of C4 to actually rupture it.
Oh how I love Mythbusters.
Now, if you shot it with a Barrett, then I'm pretty sure you'd get a nice kaboom.

I once took a can of starting fluid, which is ether and extremely flammable, and set it next to a small bush in the desert. I then lit a small fire in the bush and ran back to my scoped .22 rifle which was laying 50 yards away. One shot to the can of ether and...PHOOMPH!! It was a pretty decent fireball but lasted less then a second.

I wish I lived out in a more rural area so I could do that sort of thing. Here in the LA suburbs there aren't many places where you can set off explosives and get away with it. There's nearly always a witness to write down a license plate number or give a description.
The only place I've successfully set off small explosives and gotten away with it (other than the mexican fireworks which are no big deal to set off) is next to railroad tracks. Nobody pays attention to those areas.
Now, the fireworks on the other hand, those are just fun. I open my bathroom window every once in a while and shoot a mortar out of it. Nearly hit a crow once
