Okay I was in the store (one with a MART at the end) and wass looking for shoulderless jars to begin my hand at the PF tek when I was informed that they were out at that particular date. In distress I once remembered seeing plastic tupperware containers, such as Glad and Ziplock resealable containers.
Since I didnt want to leave empty handed I grabbed a 5pack of pint sqaures, and a 6pack of half-pint bowls.
My question is, are there any of you out there who have used such containers, and do you have any tips that you might have to make them work better?
thanks...

The only thing that I know about plastics is that you must check the heat rating.
I don't know and nor could I find the List, there should be a symbol and a number stamped on the bottom.
Since your not PCing them you can use a lower rating.

It would be a challange to make a cake in one of those dishes. they are commenly used for caseings and things of that nature but I haven't came across a post that used one for cakes. I have a few brainc sectors that arnt quite dead that tell me of a old post called "square cakes" I belive it is possible that you can starilze or try to at least in a microwave. You might want to search for something on that track. I bevlive that if one is creative enough You can grow shrooms in any thing that you can think of. Ask roger about that. (he is the sir that grows shrooms on DD bras and bibles) I am sure that if you get some lc's going that you can get myc to grow fast and this would be cool becouse then you just have to take the lid off and case and bam instant caseing.

I did find this,
Under the Recycle symbol there is a number 1-7 I think and then there is a abbreviation for the type of plastic I looked on my 2L Coke,
It said 1 PETE, so here are some of the explanation for the abbreviations
#1: Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE or PET), used to bottle soda pop, most bottled water and cooking oils, juice, salad dressings, peanut butter, etc.
#2: High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), a cloudy or opaque plastic used for milk jugs, most one-gallon water bottles, and to bottle some foods.
#4: Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is used for MOST (for other brands, see PVC) cling wraps and food storage bags, such as Glad wrap, Handi-Wrap, and Ziploc and Glad bags.
#5: Polypropylene (PP) is a cloudy or opaque plastic used to make many deli soup containers, most Rubbermaid containers, cloudy plastic baby bottles, ketchup bottles, and other clouded plastic food bottles.
Plastics that you may want to avoid because they have been found to leach suspected hormone disruptors are below:
#3: Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC or vinyl) is used to make Reynolds Wrap and Polyvinyl Films (Stretchtite and Freezetite brands) cling wraps and is the cling wrap of choice for most grocery stores. PVC can also turn up in the plastic trays in boxed cookies or chocolates, in candy bar wrappers, and occasionally as bottles for grocery items, including large Bertolli Lucca olive oils, 64-ounce Wesson Cooking Oil, and Appalachian Mountain spring water, among others. Some plastic squeeze bottles are made of PVC as well.
#6: Polystyrene (PS) is most familiar to consumers in its inflated form as Styrofoam, but non-inflated plastic PS can be found in some brands of disposable plastic cups and bowls and in most opaque plastic cutlery.
#7: "Other" resins, most typically polycarbonate, from which bisphenol-A can migrate. Most plastic baby bottles are made of polycarbonate, as are 5-gallon water bottles, clear plastic "sippy" cups for kids, and some brands of clear plastic cutlery. Other possible sources of bisphenol-A exposure include the inner lining of food cans and dental sealants.

I used Ball plastic half pint jelly jars for making freezer jams. I pre-sterilized my dry ingredients in the oven and boiled the water. I washed everything in anti bacterial soap. I then put them in the microwave for ten minutes; conclusions can't be made yet, they were inoculated 10 days ago and no contamination yet.
